gamescom 2024 is in full swing, and some of the biggest video game announcements of the year are already coming out of the event. The show kicked off yesterday with Opening Night Live, and we’ve already gotten a ton of thrilling news and game announcements from the show. Now, to continue the opening act, IGN is hosting a gamescom studio live from Germany, with a ton of developer interviews and thrilling reveals, and Xbox is hosting daily live streams to talk in-depth about its upcoming releases.

Diablo IV’s Vessel of Hatred expansion is coming October 8, and we caught up with Game Director Brent Gibson and Production Director Tiffany K. Watt at gamescom to find out what fans will love about the up-to-date region, class, and co-op dungeon. They also share tips and tricks for the upcoming expansion!
Monster Hunter Wilds Creators Share Their Biggest Lessons
Kicking off IGN’s interviews from Gamescom Studio Day 1, we sat down with series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and executive director/art director Kaname Fujioka to talk about the biggest lessons they’ve learned from Monster Hunter: World, as well as the up-to-date weapons, mounts, and monsters players can expect in the up-to-date game.
Borderlands 4 Confirmed
Hot on the heels of the Borderlands movie’s release, the announcement came that Borderlands 4 is indeed coming and will be released in 2025. The game was announced with a trailer that apparently contains a few secrets that fans may not notice upon first viewing.
Even though the game’s title is Borderlands 4, it will actually be the eighth game in the Borderlands series.
A Conversation with Casper Van Dien from Starship Troopers
General Johnny Rico, aka Casper Van Dien, dropped by gamescom Studio to talk to us about the latest Starship Troopers Extermination trailer, as well as get some support from Offworld Industries’ Gareth Woods. The frantic 16-player co-op missions in Early Access will be joined by a single-player mode, with the full game coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series on October 11.
Marvel Rivals Creators Discuss Newest Characters
We sat down with the lead combat designer, executive producer, and game director to talk about two up-to-date and thrilling characters added to the Marvel Rivals roster – Captain America and the Winter Soldier. Captain America has been designed to have a high level of mobility, with his shield able to deflect objects flying at him, just like in the comics – something the creators are very focused on to ensure they accurately represent these characters.
Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 Release Date Announced
Civilization fans will be elated to know that not only did we get our first look at gameplay for the upcoming game, but we also have a confirmed release date. Civilization 7 will release on February 11, 2025 for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The Deluxe Edition will be available to play 5 days early,

Amazon Secret Level Series Trailer
One of the most popular shows at Opening Night Live was the upcoming Amazon series Secret Level. It’s an animated anthology series from the creators of Love, Death, and Robots that focuses on a series of up-to-date stories from some of the most popular video games.
Secret Level will feature 15 episodes in total, featuring stories from games like God of War, Warhammer 40K, and more. We have a breakdown of every video game we saw in the trailer above if you’re curious about which ones are featured.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Release Date Announced
We got another update on the highly anticipated Indiana Jones game during ONL. The game is set to release on December 9 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. It was also announced that a PS5 version is currently in development, but is not set to launch until Spring 2025. Xbox boss Phil Spencer provided additional details on the decision to release the game on PS5 as well.

Here’s the latest gameplay trailer for Batman: Arkham Shadow
Batman: Arkham Shadow has received a up-to-date gameplay trailer, which is full of classic Batman combat, grapples, Detective Vision, stealth attacks, and more. Despite being VR, the gameplay seems to have an iconic Batman style to really draw players into the world of Arkham. The game is coming to MetaQuest 3 in October.
All-New Xbox Series X Console Release Date

Although it wasn’t necessarily announced On gamescom, Xbox today revealed two up-to-date Xbox Series X consoles and one up-to-date Xbox Series S console. The up-to-date consoles were described on Xbox Wire along with the release dates of the All-digital consoles in Robot White. These up-to-date editions will arrive in the Xbox lineup on October 15, 2024.
All three consoles are available for pre-order now. They will be cheaper than the versions with the disc drive installed.
Genshin Impact is coming to Xbox
Genshin Impact has been a hugely popular game for quite some time now, and it’s finally coming to the Xbox platform. Previously, Genshin Impact was only available on PC, PlayStation, and mobile devices, so the news that it’s coming to Xbox is pretty significant for anyone looking to play on their Microsoft console. The game is set to launch on Xbox Series consoles on November 20, 2024.
Another Dying Light game announced
The third installment in the Dying Light series has been officially announced. Dying Light: The Beast currently has no release date, but we have learned that original protagonist Kyle Crane will be returning as a playable character in the up-to-date game.
Goat Simulator: Remastered Announced
During ONL, it was announced that the original Goat Simulator game would be getting an official remaster, simply titled: Goat Simulator: Remastered. There are a surprising number of Goat Simulator games available already, but the remaster of the popular 2014 game will be more than just improved graphics. All of the DLC that was released for the game will also be available as part of the up-to-date version, including one DLC that was previously only available on the mobile version.
New LEGO Mario Kart sets announced
The LEGO Group announced today that Mario Kart will be receiving six official LEGO sets. The up-to-date sets will be released on January 1st and will feature iconic characters from the series. While there have been a number of Mario LEGO collaborations in the past, this is the first time the Mario Kart series has been represented.
These up-to-date sets are currently being showcased at gamescom 2024.
