Hey everyone! We’re incredibly excited to tell you more about the core elements of your Chainmonsters adventure. First, we’d like to thank everyone for voting for this, there were so many of you! Based on your votes, the first core mechanic we’ll be covering is Combat.

Chainmonsters is full of scenarios that will test your combat skills. Ancora herself, as well as other players, will take every opportunity to throw you off your game. In practice, it would look like this:

  • PvE: Player vs. Environment – random encounters, NPC/story battles, and challenges.
  • PvP: Player vs. Player – Friendly, non-competitive battles and Arena rankings

After the clash, the first two Chainmon from your squad will enter the battlefield. Once you and your opponent have chosen your first moves, the battle begins.

In each move you have five options to choose from:

  • Attack – Choose a Chainmon and its ability to (attempt to) deal damage
  • Swap – Take one Chainmon from the battlefield and replace it with another
  • Use Item – Use your equipment to heal or power up your Chainmons. You’ll also need this action to try and catch wild Chainmons.
  • Rest – Do nothing and sit this turn to replenish some of your Chainmon’s Stamina.
  • Run away – If you think your opponent is too robust, you can try to run away.

The effectiveness of attacks and escape attempts depends on a number of factors. These include the levels of all combatants, their nature, weather conditions, and other modifiers. Chainmons’ traits affect all of these actions – so you’ll need to be strategic with your lineups!

If you manage to complete a battle, you will be rewarded with XP and other loot, which may include useful items, crafting materials, etc. Additional rewards apply to arena encounters.

Next time we will discuss Craft.
