Minecraft Realms servers have been struggling with an outage for almost a week

Minecraft Realms has been struggling with outages and connectivity issues for almost a week now, and fans are starting to notice.

Fans trying to access Realms have been reporting long load times, connection errors, and other issues since at least August 13. It appears to have started around the release Minecraft Update 1.21.20which included updates to Realms invite links and various bug fixes.

On August 15, Mojang tweeted that the Realms team was working “around the clock” to resolve issues with the Bedrock Realms service. It later said that service had been restored, but that connectivity issues continued throughout the weekend.

“We’re still working hard to restore Realms to all players. Around 70% of players should have access to it at this time,” Mojang wrote on August 17. “As part of that work, we’ve had to block traffic to Realms 1.21.20 on all platforms except Switch (until Switch receives a patch).”

Minecraft Realms are personal servers that are available to players via subscription. It is advertised as a place where fans can “it’s easy and safe to play online with friends shared worlds across devices.”

As of August 19, fans are still reporting connectivity issues with Minecraft Realms, confirming a immense augment in users Shortage DetectorIGN reached out to Mojang for an update but did not receive a response.
