Convallaria Abyss Sword Build and Team Compositions

Published:

Abyss is one of the best Epic tier characters in Sword of Convallaria, making her an accessible and powerful Mage that can fit into almost any team composition.

There are a few forceful directions you can take your Abyss character, depending on what role you want her to fill in your squad. But while you can spin her up to be a single-target stopper with Sleep, I prefer to apply her as an accessible and easy-to-use AoE character who also supports her teammates by dealing a lot of debuffs to enemies.

As you level up, you can either lean more towards the debuff archetype or focus on restoring NRG to raise your damage area faster.

Best Sword of Convallaria Abyss Build

Your Abyss build starts immediately at Rank 1, where you have to make a huge decision about which archetype you want Abyss to fulfill. I prefer the Dark Withering AoE variant, as it gives you immediate, straightforward access to multi-target damage – something that is demanding to achieve early in the game.

From there, your next huge decision comes at Rank 3, where you’ll need to choose whether you want Abyss to be a full-on nerf champion or if you want her AoE damage to take precedence. If you want nerfs (or don’t plan on sticking with the game until you’re at the highest levels), pick up Corruption for even more statuses. Otherwise, you can pick up NRG Regeneration to prime her Rank 7 AoE ability Dark Ripple.

Either way, you may have already gotten Beryl at this point, so make the best decision for the characters you have now.

Focusing on nerfs, the full Abyss build would look like this:

  • Rank 1 – Dark Wither
  • Rank 3 – Corruption
  • Rank 5 – Darkness Protection
  • Rank 7 – Dark Wave
  • Rank 9 – Revitalizing Strike

Focusing on area of effect, the full Abyss setup looks like this:

  • Rank 1 – Dark Wither
  • Rank 3 – Restoration of NRG
  • Rank 5 – Darkness Protection
  • Rank 7 – Dark Wave
  • Rank 9 – Revitalizing Strike

Compositions of the Abyss Band

Since she’s a forceful mage with straightforward access to AoE, the easiest comparison to Abyss is Beryl. If you don’t have Beryl – because she’s a Legendary and we’re all cash-strapped – then Abyss is a suitable replacement on your team.

While Abyss doesn’t have the same explosive power as Beryl, she’s great at taking down multiple enemies at once, and can also make it easier to finish them off by applying debuffs.

This means Abyss should be teamed with high-mobility champions (who can quickly engage weakened enemies and finish them off), champions with a charge ability like Rawiyah, Maitha, and Tempest (who can also quickly cover distance to take down enemies), or other area-of-effect champions who can combine their damage with Abyss’s to take down multiple enemies at once.
