Fallout Shelter is a great mobile game. Seriously, in the long drought between Fallout 4 and Fallout 5, this little game offers a great break, but what about TES fans? I’ve long thought that the Fallout Shelter formula would work in a fantasy setting, and apparently Bethesda agrees, because the Fallout Shelter team has been busy working on a novel TES mobile game. What’s more, you don’t have to wait long for Release date of The Elder Scrolls: Castleswhich will happen in less than a month.
Yes, you read that right. There’s no need to settle for games like Skyrim anymore, especially when you can revisit the world of the Elder Scrolls. As the name suggests, you get your own castle, but in order for your kingdom to flourish, you have to be willing to put in the work. Or at least train a few lackeys to handle those indispensable duties. You can even appoint your successors. I can already imagine it: multiple successors raising their own armies and fighting to become the sole ruler – straight out of an episode of Game of Thrones.
Of course, you have to decide what kind of ruler you are. You don’t have to think only of yourself, high up in your castle, or maybe you do, but your subjects can only tolerate a tyrant for so long. You can settle disputes between settlers however you want, and although this is a fantasy game, you may want to take a page from history and have people fight each other – I hear a certain coliseum is frosty this time of year.
Seriously, every decision you make matters; you can risk solemn retaliation by doing nothing to facilitate your villagers, while also putting your entire kingdom at risk if you’re too kind. You may need to adopt the whole “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few” mantra.
However, you can ensure that your kingdom is powerful and prosperous by training soldiers that you can then send out on missions against some very familiar enemies from The Elder Scrolls series. Oh, and let’s not forget that you can customize your castle to suit your image, adding novel rooms, adding luxurious decorations, creating monuments, and assigning jobs to your employees.
