If you can’t wait to play Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster but want to operate the original control mechanics, you’re in luck. The upcoming remaster includes a feature that lets players choose whether to operate the control layout from the original game.
In the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster settings, players will have two options: “Standard” and “Classic”, as shown in the image below. The first is a up-to-date control scheme that includes quality of life improvements to Dead Rising, such as the ability to move while aiming. The second is a control scheme similar to the one used in the original Dead Rising on Xbox 360 and the 2016 HD re-release.
Of course, switching to classic controls has its drawbacks. First and foremost, you can’t move while aiming (like in the original game). Additionally, the classic control scheme won’t allow players to modify button assignments like the standard controls offer.
This isn’t the first time Capcom has decided to keep a bit of the original Dead Rising in the game, not to mention preserve the story. Last month, Capcom confirmed that players who pre-order the Standard or Deluxe Edition of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will receive a costume that lets them operate the classic Frank West skin from the original game.
I recently had the opportunity to play an early version of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster myself, and while I enjoyed the game, including the up-to-date control scheme, I found myself pressing a button from the aged controls at times to perform certain actions, such as picking up an item or changing an item I had in my inventory to equip it.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will launch on digital stores on September 19, with the physical release following on November 8.
