The game adopts a visually striking art style reminiscent of the almost stop-motion aesthetic of the Link’s Awakening remake, which fits beautifully into the world of Hyrule.

The story begins with mysterious purple rifts tearing Hyrule apart, drawing people into the unknown. While Link is among those trapped, Zelda manages to escape, leaving her with the burden of saving the kingdom. While the exact reason the kingdom’s military is unable to support her is somewhat unclear, the premise sets the stage for an exhilarating adventure led by Zelda.
A key gameplay mechanic is the pioneering employ of “echoes.” Armed with the Tri Wand, Zelda can summon echoes—objects and enemies she’s encountered before. Echoes play a key role in combat, solving puzzles, and reaching recent areas. This mechanic promises to challenge players’ creativity, much like the inventive gameplay seen in Tears of the Kingdom. It’s exhilarating to see such engaging and imaginative puzzle-solving in a 2D Zelda game.
