How to Complete Metropole Trials in Genshin Impact

Published:

Genshin Impact The Summer Event features a series of combat trials set in the fantastic world of Simulanka. Whether you’re trying to beat your high score or just want to earn event rewards, here’s where you can find the Metropole Trials and tips on how to complete each stage.

How to Unlock Metropole Trials in Genshin Impact

The Metropole Trials Domain is located on a diminutive island southeast of Constellation Metropole. You will unlock this area of the Simulanka by completing the Summertide Scales and Tales event quests. Follow the path towards the city and you will see a vast blue door on the left side. You can’t miss it. Talk to Alof, the little toy man, to unlock the domain and start the trials.

How do Metropole tests work?

The goal of Metropole Trials is to earn points by defeating enemies. Different enemies are worth different amounts of points, but you should focus on defeating each wave as quickly as possible. You need minimum 5000 points in each stage to earn all the event rewards.

Interact with the Domain Door and select your difficulty level at the bottom of the screen. Generally, Fearless difficulty will give you the most points, assuming you are able to clear the content. You can select a lower difficulty, but keep in mind that you will receive fewer points for each enemy.

Once you select a stage and enter the team setup screen, you will need to select two teams to face off against each half of the trial. Pay attention to the text below the team display as it details the Valor boosts you will receive as you fight through each trial. Select at least six unique characters on both teams to maximize your buffs. You can exploit the same team twice if you want, but you won’t get as many buffs.

During combat, defeat each wave of enemies as they appear. This will earn you points and Valor. Once your Valor gauge is full, you will briefly receive the buffs you saw on the team setup screen. While these buffs are energetic, you will receive bonus points for defeated enemies.

Attempt 1: Honed Vanguard

The first Metropole Trial, Honed Vanguard, consists mostly of diminutive, lightweight enemies in the first half, then a few massive, shielded enemies in the second half. Valor’s buffs are focused around ability damage.

Your first half team can consist of whatever you feel comfortable with, as long as you have some crowd control and AoE damage. I recommend Kazuha, Sucrose or Venti to keep enemies in a group.

The opposing line-up in the second half favors Geo Teams. I have seen great success with mine ship team, but you can also try Noelle or Itto paired with Albedo and/or Chiori. Geo Claymore users’ massive blows support break shields, while Albedo/Chiori benefit greatly from Valor’s ability damage buffs.

Trial 2: The Steadfast Enemy

The second Metropole Trial is called Resolute Foe. The first half has a mix of vast and diminutive enemies, with a few scary-looking Lavahurls. The second half has a few Ruin machines that are largely immune to crowd control. Valor buffs boost Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack damage.

For both halves, you can bring almost any team that has a primary DPS, preferably with some AoE damage. This means Neuvillette, Xiao, Wanderer, Hu Tao, Yoimiya, Diluc, Childe and Cyno all can benefit from Valor buffs. Pyro is a good first half item, but the lack of Hu Tao and Yoimiya’s AoE can make it complex to quickly clear waves of smaller enemies.

Attempt 3: Turning off devices

Metropole’s third trial, Device Suppression, features a whole bunch of machines. The first half consists of vast, massive machines, while the second half is a mix of smaller enemies. Valor buffs boost your teams’ Burst damage and Energy Recharge.

In the first half, the team that focuses on the game performs best. single target damage. Many off-field players (like Xingqiu, Yelan, Xiangling, or Beidou) can take advantage of Valor buffs thanks to their Burst damage. This makes Hu Tao or Yoimiya teams particularly well-suited for this challenge, but you can also choose any boss-killing team you feel comfortable with.

The second half requires crowd control and AoE damage. I had good results with my Ganyu Freeze Team with Venti. Even if you don’t exploit Freeze Team, I recommend Kazuha, Sucrose or Venti support bring the enemies together.

Trial 4: Fierce Fight

The fourth and final Metropole Trial is the hardest in my opinion. Fierce Faceoff features several enemies that are either tanky or just plain annoying. Valor buffs boost Elemental Mastery, especially after triggering a reaction.

The first half of this test involves Shadowy Husks, which punish you for having a shield. There are also Bathysmal Vishaps, which drain your energy, and Rifthounds, which drain your entire team’s HP. Be sure to bring sturdy healer and do everything in your power to group your enemies into one group. Kazuha is the best for this.

The second half contains Eremite summoners who are immune to damage unless their summon is killed. There are also pairs of Kairagis who regenerate HP if you don’t kill them both at the same time. There’s even a Hydro Phantasm who is immune to Hydro damage. I found Ventilation useful for mopping up Hermits before they can summon their teammates. Otherwise, make sure you can kill Hydro-immune enemies and bring a team you’re comfortable with.
