Be careful

We hope you’re ready to build some massive factories, because Shapez 2 is set to launch into Early Access on August 15, 2024. The sequel to the hit factory-building game takes the uncomplicated, flat graphics of its predecessor and replaces them entirely with a massive, 3D space field that fills it with an infinitely immense factory with a single purpose: creating very specific shapes, then throwing them into a expansive, swirling abyss.

What sets Shapez apart from other factory-building games is twofold: First, the parts in your factory don’t cost anything—once you unlock the parts, you can place as many as you want. Resources are also unlimited. Second, there are no “automated” manufacturing machines. You have to set up machines to cut, rotate, flip, stack, and paint input shapes to turn them into output shapes.

Shapez 2 is one of the top 100 most viewed games on Steam. At the time of going to press, it was in 90th place.

The first Shapez game was initially a browser game that is still playable in a demo version – as formation—before upgrading to version on Steam which did quite well. It currently has over 10,000 overwhelmingly positive reviews. The concept from Shapez 1 to 2 is more or less the same, but the scale is much bigger in the second game, especially since it introduces second layers and even more tools for copying, tiling, and generally mass production at higher speeds.

The Shapez 2 release date reveal trailer shows off some of the biggest features of the Early Access version, which itself looks fully featured. The craziest part is definitely stacking huge sections of the completed factory, then using huge belts to connect those pieces… and then using even bigger trains to connect everything else.

You can find Shapez 2 on Steamwhere the premiere will take place on August 15, 2024.
