Huge eShop discounts on Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 were a “mistake,” CD Projekt says, but it will honor every sale made

Published:

CD Projekt has stated that the massive discounts on Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition displayed this week on the Nintendo Switch 2 online store were a mistake, but that they will honor any sales made at the discounted prices.

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 went on sale in the US earlier this week with a whopping 75% discount, meaning the $69.99 game costs just $17.49. What’s even more eye-catching is the fact that the Ultimate Edition includes the Phantom Liberty DLC. This DLC usually costs around $30 (or around $21 once discounted), meaning the base game plus the DLC was cheaper than the DLC alone if purchased at a discount. As you’d expect, plenty of people bought the game at that price. “I couldn’t believe it lmfao,” one fan said. “I bought it as soon as I saw the price. I was waiting for it to go on sale, but I was surprised by the discount.” Another said: “I hesitated for a few hours and would have passed this game if it was $20. So they took money from people like me who weren’t really interested. I bought the game on PC years ago and barely got it to work. I’m hoping the Switch 2/cross save edition will allow me to finish the game.”

Now CD Projekt has corrected the discount and Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition costs $39.99 (42% discount). Meanwhile, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Full Edition is now $14.99 after a 75% discount has been applied.

CD Projekt issued the following statement regarding the matter social media: :

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition discounts displayed in the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop in the Americas on December 22, 2025 were incorrect.

The situation results from an error we made when applying the discount. We corrected the error and up-to-date discounts were applied.

This change does not affect purchases made at the previous discount rate.

As could be expected, CD Projekt’s statement was positively received by fans of the company and its games, especially those who jumped on the discount bug before it was fixed. “At this price it’s basically an obvious impulse purchase. Congratulations to CDPR for honoring this price, many companies would simply cancel orders and blame it on a ‘system error.’ It makes me want to support them even more,” said one fan.
