When is the news about SpongeBob SquarePants‘arrival Fortnite – I whispered recently in the rumor mill – I couldn’t assist but feel excited. AND Spongebob Squarepants Fortnite the skin sounds cluttered, a bit stupid and really unbelievable. Especially if he takes the Patty Wagon with him. However, I can’t assist but feel disappointed with the end result.
Yes, technically SpongeBob SquarePants can join your growing library of Fortnite skins. He joins newcomers like Marty McFly and The Bride, the current season’s highlights. However, don’t expect to be wandering around the game as the Krusty Krab’s best employee. Instead of becoming a full-fledged fighting character, SpongeBob SquarePants is little more than a sidekick.
For those jumping into Fortnite after a while, Helpers are NPCs that accompany you around the map. No one outside your team can see them, only your team. They are quite cute and you can pet them if you want. The biggest catch is that almost every Helper so far is a paid add-on that will net you at least 1,200 V-Bucks, depending on who you want to add to your site.
The complete SpongeBob SquarePants package it costs a whopping 3,000 V-Bucks. In exchange for your currency, you’ll receive SpongeBob Slippies Kicks, Gary Slippies Kicks, Jellyfish Jam and Lil’ Big Jellyfish emotes, a Goofy Goober guitar, a Bikini Bottom drum set, and a gold spatula collectible. Also includes Sweet Victory as a jam and a DoodleBob backpack. This all sounds pretty amazing, right?
It’s just a pity that the set doesn’t include the appropriate SpongeBob SquarePants skin. If you only want to buy his Sidekick version, it costs 1,800 V-Bucks. Logically, Epic Games makes him a helper, so he sticks to the game’s hitbox metrics. Basically, if it’s too low, Epic will likely consider it an unfair advantage. That’s why Lisa and Bart Simpson wear mech suits. It’s a bit unhappy, honestly.
At least Sweet Victory is worth purchasing for 500 V-Bucks. What an absolute hit. Still, it’s a pretty good year for the character. After a stint in Sonic Racing: Crossworlds and a stint in Fortnite SpongeBob Tycoon, I think all we’re left with are remasters of the best SpongeBob games.
