  • Vampire Crawlers, the spinoff of Vampire Survivors, has revealed a fresh gameplay trailer
  • Check out returning characters and weapons, and huge dungeons to explore
  • Crawling robots combine mechanics both fresh and familiar for fast-paced RPG action of card combat

Vampire Survivors has (quite rightly in my opinion) managed to become a mainstay among Bullet Heaven players on virtually all platforms. It’s no wonder that their wild card spin-off Vampire Crawlers is so popular. And now a fresh gameplay trailer gives you an idea of what to expect at launch.

Scheduled for release in 2026, Vampire Crawlers takes the action of Vampire Survivors from the isometric sky into turn-based dungeon crawling from a first-person perspective. In Vampire Crawlers, you build a deck of classic Vampire Survivors weapons as you explore castles, dungeons, and crumbling ruins in your quest to eradicate evil.

The fresh gameplay trailer gives us our best look yet at how all of these mechanics work together in harmony, as well as a great retro take on the genre. Whether it’s classic catacombs or mysterious mechanical dungeons, there’s plenty to explore. Not to mention showing off more characters, weapons, and skills.

Raising the stakes

As you’d expect from Poncle, Vampire Crawlers is full of irreverent innovations, featuring elements like Balatro’s combo-building action and the blinding spells and weapons of Vampire Survivors. However, I think Vampire Crawlers could prove to be a great addition to the rotation for Survivor fanatics like me.

And while you’ll find plenty of recognizable elements from the original Vampire Survivors game, this is clearly no ordinary cash grab, with plenty of fresh graphics and nippy extras to go along with recognizable cast members, weapons, and items.

If only they could make a Metroidvania of themselves… Well, one can dream.

Anyway, even though Survivor.io ruled mobile for a while, there’s a reason our list includes top mobile games like Vampire Survivors. You’d think their surprisingly liberal free-to-play format was the key to upsetting this apple… Or maybe the garlic cart, I guess?
