Another day and another leak before The Game Awards 2025 gala, during which the further fate of Tomb Raider’s heroine, Lara Croft, will be presented.
Previously, the cover of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis was leaked, which looks to be a full remake of the original game in the series. There are also stills from the modern trailer showing Lara Croft in action.
Croft’s design appears to be a combination of the character’s “classic” appearance with her appearance from the more recent reboot trilogy of the series that showed her origins. It is assumed that this remake will fully ensure that the first adventure in the Tomb Raider series will take place after this trilogy, as has always been suggested.
“Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis,” a remake of the first game, would leak along with several photos, including the cover.

After photos were leaked onto the internet via a video game forum last night Reset Erafans quickly noticed that Croft’s box art perfectly matched the one seen on The Game Awards’ official social media troublesome question for tonight, where he stands atop a rock with his arm outstretched and his iconic double pistols raised.
The Game Awards trailer boasted a “look at the future of one of the most iconic gaming franchises” and was tagged on the official Tomb Raider account, but are we really working on a remake? This seems unlikely. Responding to the leak via ResetEra, a gaming tipster noticed Shinobi602 hinted that many projects will be showcased tonight and fans will not be disappointed.
Indeed, Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics has been working on the next chapter of the series for several years now. Hopefully we’ll hear about that tonight too.
First announced in 2022, we haven’t seen anything about the all-new Tomb Raider yet, though we did see a redesign of Lara Croft last year. Meanwhile, it’s been a turbulent time for Crystal Dynamics with three waves of layoffs this year, including 30 people last month, an unknown number of employees in August after Xbox canceled Perfect Dark, and 17 people at the beginning of the yearbut also 10 others in 2023
In addition, we know that Amazon, in cooperation with Story Kitchen, is working on a live-action Tomb Raider series, starring Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones as Lara Croft. According to Story Kitchen, the series will “reinvent the brand on a massive scale” and combine “live-action TV series and video games into a unified storytelling universe.” How will it all be connected? What else is in the pipeline? Perhaps we’ll find out more tonight.
