The original director of Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell remake, David Grivel, has returned to resume his work as the game’s director after leaving Ubisoft in 2022.
Grivel himself confirmed this news in the article post on LinkedIn (By GamesRadar).
“Today I am very, very happy to announce that I am rejoining Ubisoft Toronto as Game Director for the Splinter Cell Remake!” wrote Grivel, noting that the band and the project are special to him.
Grivel previously worked at Ubisoft for just over a decade, from 2011 to 2022. Prior to his brief stint as director of the Splinter Cell remake, he was involved as a game designer on various projects, including Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Far Cry Primal, Far Cry 4, and Far Cry 5.
Grivel rejoins Ubisoft after a stint at Ridgeline Games, where he worked on the campaign mode for Battlefield 6 until suddenly joining EA closed the studio in early 2024.
The Splinter Cell remake, which was first announced in behind schedule 2021, has been lurking in the dim for many years. During this time, little information about the game has come to featherlight, although we do know it the story of the 2002 original is set to be updated be “more authentic and credible” for a state-of-the-art audience.
