Hollow Knight: Silksong developer Team Cherry has confirmed that they are working on DLC, but don’t know when it will be released.

In an interview with BloombergTeam Cherry co-founders Ari Gibson and William Pellen said that while developers don’t plan to spend an “excessive amount of time” creating recent content for Silksong, “we still follow the same programming philosophy, which can sometimes extend our timeframe.”

Silksong took seven years to release, so who knows when this mysterious DLC will be released? However, Team Cherry has teased that it will feature the Steel Assassin, a character shown in the previous trailer but who has yet to appear in Silksong itself.

Here’s the relevant exchange with Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier:

Do you want to prepare a mix of smaller updates like Lifeblood, or are you thinking about bigger things like Godmaster and Grimm Troupe? Do you have a certain term in mind?

Gibson: Simply put, yes, we would think about different things at different scales. This could mean bigger things like Godmaster. We’ve certainly noticed that people would like this expansion of being able to go into the pantheon space and fight bosses again. And there are already a huge number of them.

Peeling: We generally talked about the next project. We don’t think about size. We just started creating recent material and working on fragments. We are still in this world and we think about what we can present to people.

Gibson: It’s intriguing to figure out how to expand an already huge game to make sure you don’t completely overwhelm recent players, because of course recent players will experience recent things, very naturally integrated. It will just seem like a basic experience. Some of that may mean finding ways to hide access, because otherwise potentially at the end of our expansions and development it would just be gigantic.
