Sonic and Mario’s rivalry may have cooled down since they started competing in the Olympics together, but Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds may be the closest to a Mario Kart beater we’ve seen in a while.
The game has found success with a “kitchen sink” approach, with tons of characters, worlds, and upgrades coming from across SEGA’s IP and beyond, and now you can save large on it Black Friday.
The Black Friday sale at Target lowered the price PS5 AND Nintendo Switch version down to $44.99 – $25 off a game that didn’t release until behind schedule September.
This time, the biggest attraction is not only that the vehicles in the game change between different modes, but also that during the same race, competitors will travel through dimensions to different tracks. This keeps everyone in suspense, and the go-kart must be the first to choose one of two options.
A huge number of characters are also included. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Dr. Eggman are the obvious additions, but the game’s season pass includes Minecraft’s Steve and Alex, Pac-Man, Mega Man, and more.
In our reviewJada Griffin gave the game a rating of 9 out of 10, saying, “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds shoots all over the place with a fantastic lineup, excellent tracks, and a long list of customization options.”
This list is growing too. The SpongeBob SquarePants Pack will take players to Bikini Bottom, although a free update is also available Introducing NiGHTS, AiAi and Tangle & Whisper. It will also appear on Nintendo Switch 2 finally on December 4th.
Other exclusive offers from Nintendo’s Black Friday sale include a large discount on today’s best microSD Express card. This applies to recently released ones Samsung P9 512 GB microSD Express cardnow only $74.99 after an instant 25% discount.
When it comes to games, this is my top pick Super Mario Odyssey at the moment, what was included in the ranking fourth on IGN’s “100 Greatest Nintendo Games of All Time” list for just 30 bucks.
For more deals, also check out every PS5 game on sale as part of PlayStation’s modern Black Friday deals. The sale offers large discounts on first-party PlayStation games, especially from the last few years. My top pick is the winner of Game of the Year 2024, $39.99 Astrobotwhich provides endless amounts of fun.
