Fictions and Counterplay Games, the creators of Godfall, have announced a modern game called Armatus, a third-person roguelite game set in the demon-infested streets of Paris. The game was shown during Xbox Partner Preview, but has been confirmed for PC, PS5 and Switch 2. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

Armatus puts players in the role of a mysterious warrior who has been summoned to defend a group of people who were left behind when the veil was opened and those deemed worthy were taken away. Everyone else on Earth was at the mercy of demons. A nameless warrior travels through Paris to fight demons and learn more about what happened, dying time and time again in the process.

“In Armatus, we wanted the gameplay to be a combination of modern firearms and supernatural powers, plus a bit of hand-to-hand combat” said Ming Zhang, head of Counterplay Games studio, “By layering dynamic design choices for each round, we’ve created crazy, hyperkinetic combat that truly defines our gameplay.”

“We are very excited to work with Ming and the talented team at Counterplay Games to help them bring Armatus to life.” said Kelsey Hansen, Fiction Producer. “It’s a game full of intense, fast-paced combat that truly feels amazing in your hands. We can’t wait for everyone to experience it in 2026.”

Armatus is scheduled for release in 2026.
