- Call of Duty: Mobile has released a fresh trailer for the upcoming extraction shooter mode
- DMZ: Recon will be released in December
- It offers roguelike-style progression where you fight to survive and evacuate
When it first released in early 2010, Escape from Tarkov offered a fresh twist on the shooter. Instead of just killing everyone, it was about getting in and getting out alive. Extraction mode has since become a staple, also in Call of Duty: Mobile with the fresh addition DMZ: Recon.
The already announced DMZ: Recon now has not only a fresh trailer giving a glimpse of what to expect from the mode, but also a full December 11 release date. If you’ve played Warzone, you know what to expect. Reach the set goal and then proceed to the extraction before the time runs out.
Moreover, DMZ: Recon has roguelike elements where you accumulate loot and enhance your abilities with each run. It probably won’t satisfy die-hard Tarkov fans looking for extreme realism, but for a more fast-paced, action-packed take on the concept, it’s more than acceptable.
Bringing out the fun
In this case I really have to eat crow. You may remember that last year, the long-awaited Warzone Mobile finally hit digital stores with its own DMZ mode. “What…” I thought, “will happen to poor little CoD Mobile, clearly the weak link in this situation?”
Well, rapid forward a few months and Warzone Mobile is shutting down while Call of Duty: Mobile steps up to take its place in the mobile shooter extraction space. I’m very rarely wrong (don’t check it), but I have to hold my hands up and admit that CoD Mobile won.
Still, fans of mobile shooters have plenty to offer. If you’re looking to soothe your itchy trigger finger, why not delve into some of our top picks from our list of the best shooting games for Android?
