Update: This contract has already expired.
Ahead of Black Friday, Amazon has reduced prices on officially licensed products WD Black C50 expansion card for Xbox Series X and S. Right now, you can get the 1TB model for just $99.99 with free shipping. The WD Black C50 expansion card is one of the best SSDs for Xbox, which isn’t surprising since the options are quite confined. There is only one other officially licensed model – Seagate extension – and currently costs $50 more.
WD Black C50 Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X
The WD Black C50 expansion card is essentially a 1TB SSD housed in an external enclosure with a PCIe Gen4 interface that plugs directly into a specialized port on your Xbox console. Unlike the more complicated process of installing a PS5 SSD, which involves opening the PS5 to access the SSD slot, this drive is literally plug and play. This expansion card offers the same speed as the internal SSD, so you won’t lose performance or experience extended loading times like a regular USB drive. Even with just a 1TB expansion card, you can double the storage on the original Xbox Series X and triple the storage on the (white) Xbox Series S.
If you’re looking for an officially licensed storage solution (which we highly recommend), your options are confined to WD or Seagate expansion cards. If you see other unlicensed difficult drives being sold by unknown brands, give them a difficult pass; there is a high probability that they will either not work properly or will not work at all.
