Nintendo Switch 2 Case and Screen Protector: Review
Do you want to take your beloved Nintendo Switch 2 console on a trip without fear of damage and destruction? Well, the official Nintendo Switch 2 case and screen protector might be the perfect solution for you.
The set includes a case that will hold the Switch 2 console (including Joy-Con 2 controllers), six game cartridges and several smaller accessories, such as Joy-Con straps. Of course, the set also comes with a screen protector – more on that later.
I want to start by talking about a case that I think is really solid. It’s well finished, has the Switch 2 logo front and center, and aptly has red and blue pulls on the two zippers that feel glossy and straightforward to fasten. The case is also pleasantly hard-wearing to the touch, and when I dropped it a few times and scratched it badly, I didn’t notice even a trace of wear – the quality I would expect from the best Nintendo Switch 2 accessories.
There are three compartments inside: one on each side of the housing for the console and the other for tiny accessories, above which there are six inserts. Could there be more slots for game cards? Yes, but personally six physical slots are enough for me if I’m going on a compact trip – there’s enough space for some party games like The world of Mario Kart AND Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TVas well as several single-player adventures.
The amount of space in the third compartment is circumscribed – you won’t fit your docking station here. I could easily fit a pair of earbuds or Joy-Con straps, but if you’re hoping to store an item like a USB camera or Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller, you might want to check out a larger option. The advantage is that the case stays slim and fits snugly to the console, which means you can easily put it in your bag without worrying about it being too bulky.
Overall, I really like this case and may utilize it instead of my official Nintendo Switch 2 universal carrying case if I don’t plan on playing on the dock. But I realized one thing: it is very susceptible to fingerprints. Even when taking the photos you see in this guide, I had to wipe them a few times – it’s a minor thing, but worth noting.
As I mentioned earlier, this package also includes a screen protector, but my impressions were much less positive. You’ll need to temper your expectations a bit here – after all, you won’t be getting a tempered glass screen protector! Instead, it’s a scratch-resistant film, which isn’t the best protection option on the market.
You don’t get a frame to facilitate you put the screen protector on – you have to adjust it by hand. But while I managed to get it to line up quite nicely, I still ran into some issues, such as excessive air bubbles that were challenging to squeeze out. I put it through the same testing process as, for example, the Genki Aegis Shield. And although my console escaped unscathed, I still recommend purchasing tempered glass for better protection and peace of mind.
Ultimately, I treat the screen protector more as an addition. I’m focusing on the case, which I consider a good value, especially for UK and Australian buyers who spend a maximum of £20.99/$39.95 to buy this model – I’ve seen it on sale for less before. Availability seems spotty in the US, and the proportionately higher price of $39.99 is a bit of a shame.
Still, you get a slim, well-finished and hard-wearing case that’s perfect for taking on the go. Finally, I think Nintendo’s official case is still worth considering.

How I tested the Nintendo Switch 2 case and screen protector
- Tested for many days
- I take it with me on public transport and to the office
- Tested by a Nintendo Switch 2 owner and lifelong gamer
I tested the Nintendo Switch 2 case and screen protector over the course of several days. I packed it with a Nintendo Switch 2, Joy-Con 2 controllers, and a charging cable, and it held up well, as expected.
To gauge the durability of the case, I tried dropping it from a decent distance and also scratched the case. I then checked for wear and tear at the end of the test period. Where applicable, I compared this case to the competition for durability and storage space.
I’m a Switch 2 owner, a lifelong gamer, and a seasoned tech reviewer with extensive experience with Switch 2 accessories. Since picking up the Switch 2 on launch day, I’ve tried a whole range of products, including cases like the Nacon Protection Case XL for the Nintendo Switch 2, screen protectors like the DBrand Prism 2.0, and cameras like the Hori Piranha Plant Camera for the Nintendo Switch 2.
