Hello everyone. Eric from EverStone Studio, the team behind the open-world action-adventure RPG Wuxia, Where the winds meet. I’m here to give you a rundown of all the thrilling content we showed off during our recent preview event and what you can expect when we launch on November 14.
Where Winds Meet takes you to the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms of China, a time of upheaval, change and opportunity. It’s a real, living world, full of branching stories, side quests, and choices that matter.
Where Winds Meet is about living your own story in a world that feels real. You can go anywhere, fight anyone, and become anyone you want.
Master the battle and meet legends
Combat is swift, pliant and full of style. You can master classic weapons such as the sword, spear, Mo blade and rope dart, or try out innovative weapons such as the umbrella and fan. Each has its own rhythm and tactics, supported by 12 martial arts sets and 23 mystical techniques. On the animations, we collaborated with Stephen Tung Wai, a four-time winner of the Hong Kong film award for best action choreography.
Today we’re introducing a fresh weapon – the grappling dart. These weapons are designed to operate their unique strengths to attack the enemy’s weaknesses, using their flexibility and cunning to defeat stronger opponents. It’s a weapon that proves that softness can overcome hardness, the few can challenge the many, and cunning can overcome brute strength – even a mouse can tie up a tiger!
Martial arts are at the heart of every Jianghu dream, and compelling combat is at the heart of every great wuxia game. And there’s still a lot ahead of us! Several fresh weapons and techniques are currently being developed, each of which is expected to enrich the world of Where Winds Meet in the future.
You Kung Fu masters also have something to look forward to. Across dozens of campaigns and regions, you’ll find plenty of bosses and enemies with different fighting styles.
In our latest installment, players will meet a mysterious figure previously known only as a shadowy manipulator looming from behind the scenes, a key figure whose presence has long been sensed but never clearly seen. This elusive strategist is none other than the well-known Nan Zhu. However, this first meeting is not a poetic one; instead, it unfolds as a threatening game of wits and suspense. Every word sets a trap, and murderous intentions lurk at every step. The final battle will begin soon.
Qinghe and Kaifeng regions
Qinghe is where every traveler’s story begins, a serene region of open plains, serene villages and hidden secrets. It’s the perfect place to tardy down, explore and enjoy the early beauty of Where Winds Meet.
But even this peaceful land has its quirks. There are rumors of an adventurer posing as a wanderer, setting fire to wasp nests, and even stealing horses. Beneath Qinghe’s serene surface lies a network of caves filled with war secrets and forgotten legends. From the haunted ruins of the Bodhi Sea to the alert silence atop Halo Peak, there is always something fresh waiting to be discovered.
Kaifeng, on the other hand, is the beating heart of civilization. It is a extensive antique city full of featherlight, sound and history. You can spend your days in the dazzling Revelry Hall, lose yourself in the hustle and bustle of the markets, or step into the shadows of the Spooky Market to discover its hidden secrets.
With over 10,000 NPCs, each with their own motivation, Kaifeng feels truly alive. You can duel, trade, or befriend them, and your choices influence how they view you.
And for those who love history, there are over 1,200 cultural artifacts to collect, making your exploration a journey through living heritage.
A journey full of adventures
The story of Where Winds Meet begins in Qinghe, a serene corner of the world where the main character is raised by Aunt Han and Uncle Jiang. They represent home, family and ultimately those who inspired the main character’s dream of becoming a wanderer.
On the day of a local holiday, a mysterious figure steals a jade pendant that the hero has worn since childhood. This theft sets off a chain of events that draws the teenage hero into a larger conspiracy, beginning with the secrets hidden behind the doors of the Evercare clinic and ending with a much greater adventure.
As the story progresses in the Kaifeng chapter, the stakes boost. Drawn into the Gathering of Heroes, the hero learns of the “Gold-Making Vessel”, a supposed miraculous treasure that may actually harbor a darker purpose. What begins as a personal journey quickly becomes a struggle embroiled in real historical conflicts and obscure forces. But is this artifact truly a miraculous treasure, or a key element in a much deeper and darker conspiracy? Players can go beyond the myths and discover the truth hidden in the shadowy corners of the city.
Explore the unknown
We used an inventive approach combining overt and hidden plot threads. The explicit plot, told in core chapters, follows the hero’s personal journey, showcasing the development of a true hero. The hidden plot, on the other hand, is told through fragmented narratives, with clues scattered throughout various exploration details.
It all adds up to an immersive wuxia experience. Perhaps a roadside beggar or a random book in the room will give a clue to the hero’s identity, or even influence a massive conspiracy involving the imperial court.
Seasonal premieres and updates
All Where Winds Meet content is completely free! Every player can enjoy all game modes as much as they want, without any restrictions.
Post-launch, in-game content updates will be made available in the form of themed seasons, some of which will expand on the world’s core narrative, while others will focus on introducing fresh game modes and limited-time events. The first thematic season is titled Blade Out.
