Warhammer Survivors is a fresh installment of the indie hit Vampire Survivors – developed in collaboration with Poncle

Published:

There are many promising upcoming Warhammer video games, but I didn’t expect to add this one to my list: Warhammer Survivors.

It’s a variation on the independent Warhammer hit, Vampire Survivors, created in collaboration with Poncle (Luca Galante), the creator of the beloved fast-paced rogue-like game. Indeed, Warhammer Survivors uses Poncle’s Vampire Survivors engine.

In Warhammer Survivors you can play as characters from Warhammer 40,000 (the bleak, distant future) and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar (the fantasy), and since it’s a Survivors game, your job is to destroy endless swarms of enemies in pixel vomit-style gameplay. The premiere is planned for 2026 and will be developed and published by Auroch Digital (Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun).

Here is the official note:

Recognized as part of the official Survivors line, this standalone game brings familiar waves of endless enemies with fresh twists, iconic characters and powerful weapons, wrapped in a completely fresh setting. Or should we say, settings!

Choosing from the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar universes, players will lead a group of iconic characters and face swarms of relentless enemies. Weapons and upgrades can be combined into devastating fresh forms to create screen-clearing storms of bullets, blades and magic.

Experiment with fresh strategies each round as you unlock fresh characters, upgrades, weapon combos, and treasure troves of secrets and collectibles waiting to be discovered.

On the 40,000 side of playable characters are Warhammer 40,000 hero Malum Caedo: Boltgun, Cadian Shock Trooper, soldier Kozlowski, and space marine intercessor Brother Luca as they battle the Tyranid swarm.

In Age of Sigmar, Neave Blacktalon, warrior of God-King Sigmar, Gotrek Gurnisson, and Sharynn Azurwrath, Stormcast Eternal Vanquisher, are armed with the Celestial Greatsword. They fight the Skaven.

Warhammer Survivors game features:

  • Fast and frantic Survivors gameplay.
  • A list of iconic characters from the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar universes, including Malum Caedo from Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun!
  • Many modes and stages from across the grim 41st millennium and the Mortal Realms.
  • An arsenal of familiar weapons like the Boltgun, Astartes Chain Sword, Whirlwind Axes, and great Easter eggs like the humble Citadel Nuln oil paint pot.
  • A powerful collection of passives and upgrades to aid you survive in the fight against the monstrous legions.
  • Esoteric secrets and Easter eggs to discover and collectibles to collect!
  • …and much more yet to be announced!

As I mentioned, Warhammer Survivors joins the ever-growing list of cool-looking Warhammer video games coming out over the next few years. There’s Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2, Auroch Digital’s Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, and perhaps a few others that have yet to be announced.
