Redsec is the first-ever free-to-play Battle Royale game in Battlefield, launching today. But it’s not just Battle Royale – the experience includes Gauntlet, a round-based elimination mode that draws on the series’ luxurious multiplayer history, and Redsec’s Community Creations Portal, an ever-expanding sandbox from our community creators.
However, your first steps into Redsec will most likely come in the form of the Battle Royale Initiation playlist:
Battle Royale Initiation
In BR Duos, eliminate hostels, track intelligence and avoid the chemical ring on a condensed map.
Battle Royale Initiation is designed for up-to-date players as a low-stakes learning environment. In this variant, you and a teammate can join a match with the following key differences:
- This version of Fort Lyndon is much smaller than its full version.
- Players who have access to this mode are circumscribed to newer players.
- Maximum 48 players, including bots.
Your path to victory will include:
I’m dropping by
Choose your class
- Assault – The ultimate front-line warrior, skilled at breaking through enemy defenses. Dominate close and mid-range fights and limit the enemy’s ability to fight.
- Engineer – Leading vehicle and equipment technician on the battlefield. Make repairs to ensure your allies’ combat effectiveness, or forcefully strike enemy armor to disrupt their attack.
- Support – The basis of every combat unit for defense and constant fighting. Heal and replenish genial forces while strengthening defensive positions to protect them.
- Scout – An excellent intelligence and counterintelligence agent. Neutralize targets from a distance or infiltrate to gather information and disrupt enemy forces.
You can also choose a sidearm, a petite personal defense weapon that’s great for tough situations, but isn’t designed to carry you around the entire match.
Then get ready to parachute into Fort Lyndon. You or your duo will be marked as the Troop Leader; when the Squad Leader calls for a jump, you will both jump out of the infiltration plane.
At any time, a person who is not the Leader may detach from the formation and continue falling on his own. However, we highly recommend that up-to-date players stay in formation. Your parachute will open automatically as you approach the ground. Alternatively, you can manually open the parachute to delay landing in favor of a more intended landing site.
Securing better weapons, ammunition and armor
The search for weapons, ammunition and armor becomes tools for survival.
All of this is available in various chests around the map; look for giant rectangular boxes that are green (common), red and black (sporadic), or red with class symbols (class chests). Look for vehicles that can be opened to hold more items, as well as locked vaults.
Crates may also contain ammunition, which is shared among all weapons in a given weapon category. While there are other ways to get more ammo, such as grabbing it from eliminated enemies or getting an ammo resupply call, the easiest way to restock is by using a Support Class Supply Box.
Fulfillment of contracts
Your main task in Battle Royale is to eliminate all enemies. The second is Contracts, objectives that can be accepted in the full map screen and rewarded with powerful items. As soon as a contract is available for selection, a notification will appear under the compass on the HUD.
Avoiding the Circle of Death, respawning and achieving victory
Circle of Death. One step into this area will cause him to immediately come down and eliminate you. Look out for red shaded areas on the minimap or pay attention to warnings on the HUD when the red skull icon and distance are displayed.
In Battle Royale, death is not always the end. In the first few minutes of each match, you will automatically receive a second chance, which you can immediately switch out of the blue. If you don’t take advantage of your second chance, you’ll receive a hefty chunk of XP, which is great for ranking up and unlocking more gear.
Alternatively, Battle Royale includes spawn points where teammates can revive their allies. After activating a spawn point, stay within its radius for a brief period of time to respawn any dead allies. If you’re watching from the outside, you can ask for rebirth.
The last remaining Battle Royale squad wins the match.
Tips to survive and win in Battle Royal
By the end of your initiation journey, you should be ready to play Battle Royale.
- Stick to your initiation zones. Learning the alleys, rooftops and corridors can give you an advantage over other up-to-date players who may not be aware of their surroundings.
- Get to know your class. Be sure to take advantage of everything your class has to offer and ask a combat companion with more experience to guide you through the basics.
- Work with your team. Battle Royale is about surviving as a team; don’t stray too far from your teammates, be sure to share enemy locations and high-value valuable items, and be sure to revive them whenever possible.
Gauntlet – a round-based multiplayer elimination game
In Gauntlet, eight teams of four players compete head-to-head in a series of special operations that put each team to the test. If you like conventional multiplayer FPS games, you’ll love Gauntlet.
Gauntlet involves crafting custom equipment and teams competing in a series of high-octane missions. Each mode includes a helpful in-game description and demonstration of how to play, including what actions earn points for your team. Failure to score enough points results in elimination, while winning four modes in a Gauntlet match means victory.
Here are three quick tips to get started with this pick-up-and-play game:
- Watch the briefing. A petite sequence before each action gives a brief demonstration of how to perform it, as well as the points earned for each action.
- Play with a goal. Using what you learned during the briefing, focus on the activities that will earn your team the most points.
- Communication is key. Use the ping system, voice chat and text chat to effectively plan and execute coordinated efforts, otherwise be prepared to be reassigned or sent back to the start of the Gauntlet.
See you at Fort Lyndon!
