Borderlands 4 Reveals Reward Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, First Seasonal Mini-Event, Invincible Boss, and More

Gearbox revealed Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, the game’s first seasonal mini-event, an undefeated boss and more.

Bounty Packs are paid DLC that bring recent “small but flavorful” narrative content to Borderlands 4. In Bounty Pack 1, coming November 20, players team up with Rush and “show the Timekeeper’s Minister of Culture the true meaning of Mercenary Day, a fun time for gift-giving and shooting with friends and family.”

Bounty Pack 1 also includes a Vault card with recent rewards for players to earn throughout gameplay, with 24 unlockable cosmetic items and four rerollable gear items. Rerollable gear can be earned any number of times, so this could be an opportunity to get a roll with stats that perfectly match a specific build, Gearbox said.

Here is the official note:

Rush, the lovable leader of the Outbounders, is homesick and longs for the holidays he so treasured in years gone by. By his calculations, Mercenary Day will soon be upon us, a merry time for giving gifts and shooting at friends and family, and he would like to bring the same holiday joy to the people of Kairos. However, his hopes for Christmas fun are in complete conflict with Screw, the Timekeeper’s Minister of Culture, whose job is to keep the festivities as tedious and homogeneous as possible. In a series of all-new main missions, you’ll show Screw the true meaning of Mercenary Day at all costs, and maybe earn some recent Legendary loot along the way.

Here’s the full breakdown of the loot from the Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack 1 vault card:

  • 4 weapons that can be rerolled
  • 4 Vault Hunter heads that can be used by Vex, Rafa, Amon and Harlowe
  • 4 Vault Hunter skins that can be used by Vex, Rafa, Amon and Harlowe
  • 5 weapon skins
  • 5 vehicle skins
  • 4 skins for ECHO-4 drones
  • 2 ECHO-4 attachments

Bounty Pack 1 also includes several extras to find:

  • 1 recent Digirunner vehicle (available shortly after starting the first main mission)
  • 1 Vault Hunter style usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon and Harlowe (available after defeating the boss and completing the final main mission of the Reward Pack)
  • 1 ECHO-4 Drone Skin (available after defeating the boss and completing the final main mission of the reward pack)

To access Gearbox, which revealed Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, the game’s first seasonal mini-event, an invincible boss, and more, you’ll need to purchase Borderlands 4 Deluxe or Super Deluxe Edition (both include the Bounty Pack), or purchase the Bounty Pack which includes the Bounty Pack Pack 1, or purchase Bounty Pack 1 separately.

Meanwhile, Gearbox has revealed Borderlands 4’s free seasonal mini-event, Horrors of Kairos. This limited-time event celebrates Halloween from October 23 to November 6. Players will encounter a terrifying recent weather effect in the form of blood rain while fighting world bosses, and killing them has a chance to earn recent legendary loot, Gearbox said. Seasonal cosmetics will also be available using SHiFT codes.

  • Legendary Murmur Tediore Assault Rifle: Executes weakened enemies with guaranteed critical hits on targets with less than 35% health
  • Legendary Skull Command Grenade: This deadly grenade fires projectiles while searching for the nearest target

And finally, a free final update is available in the form of Bloomreaper the Invincible. This is the first of the final Invincible Bosses that will appear in Borderlands 4 as free DLC and will be released at some point in December.

The “Invincible” moniker is a reference to Borderlands 2’s raid bosses, so these aren’t literally unkillable enemies, Gearbox explained, but players’ skills “will be tested by massive health pools, incredibly lethal attack damage, and new modifiers on these brand new bosses.”

The December update also adds a recent level of Ultimate Vault Hunter mode, providing an additional level of difficulty.

Last month, Gearbox revealed the first of two recent Vault Hunters coming to Borderlands 4 as part of the paid Story Pack DLC. Coming out in the first quarter of 2026, C4SH is a playable character whose luck-based powers can make him either the best or worst character in the game.
