Battlefield 6 is now available, and in the blink of an eye, the game’s servers have been filled with hundreds of thousands of players waiting to join the action.
Today, October 10, IGN found itself queuing up multiple servers as developers at Battlefield Studios prepared for the coming horde.
At the time of publication of this article, less than an hour after the release of Battlefield 6, there were 606,000 concurrent players playing the game on Steam. The true number of simultaneous games will be much higher, but Microsoft and Sony do not publicly disclose player numbers on Xbox and PlayStation.
EA released a statement saying that it anticipated multiple players logging in at the same time at launch and added a queue system at that “peak” moment.
“A quick update to login queues as we prepare for today’s Battlefield 6 launch,” the statement reads.
“Battlefield 6 launches today at 15:00 UTC and we expect many of you will log in at the same time during this initial moment.
“To ensure a smooth and stable login experience for everyone, we are adding a queue system during this and other peak times.
“Thank you for your patience during the launch of Battlefield 6!”
IN newer statementEA said it’s letting in as many players as possible, so lines should be “relatively short.”
“Once the game is live, many of you join in at the same time,” EA said. “To ensure a smooth and stable experience for everyone, login queues are active during this peak launch time. We are admitting as many of you as possible, so queues should be relatively short. Steam users should note that if the ‘Play’ button does not appear, restarting the Steam client will resolve this issue.” Thank you for your patience and enjoy watching Battlefield 6!”
The immense launch queues stem from comments from one of Battlefield 6’s developers, who stated that the game’s servers “should” be ready for today’s launch date and that the recent open beta “helped gauge interest.” While you wait, check out IGN’s ongoing review of Battlefield 6 multiplayer, our review of the Battlefield 6 campaign, and what you can expect from Battlefield Season 1.
