Resident Evil: Requiem on Nintendo Switch 2 “There was no in the original plan,” says the programmer

On the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo fans were blessed with the news that not one, not two, but three contemporary games of Resident Evil, come to Nintendo Switch 2: Village, Requiem and Biohazard. But according to Requiem programmers, it was not always a plan. In fact, the band originally did not plan to bring anything to the Switch 2 at all.

Talking to me at the Tokyo Game Show, the producer Masato Kumazawa explains the history of how Nintendo Switch 2 ended with three most newfangled Resident Evil games on the way to the system:

Switch 2 was not announced when we started planning this game [Requiem]So of course he was not in the original plan. When Switch 2 was announced, we could start testing games, and we thought it would be great if we could introduce the Resident Evil series on this platform. We started with the internally moving Resident Evil: Village, to see if it would work well on the equipment, and it looked really great, so it gave us confidence that adding the Switch 2 version reqium to plans, and this led us to a recent announcement, in which we confirmed that not only Reqiu is coming, but 7 and 8 at the same time.

It is not surprising that Kumazawa gives a switch of 2 port of my own game, but I played a miniature part of Resident Evil: Requiem on the Tokyo Game Show in portable mode on the platform and … yes, it looks pretty good! I asked him as a continuation whether there is something special in the Switch 2 game version, and his answer that not, there is no “in a good way”. It’s just Requiem, on Switch 2, you can take it on the way. And although my samples of this experience were miniature, I am an optimist from this miniature demo that Kumazawa not only speaks here.

Last month we announced Resident Evil: Requiem, and you can read our impressions about what we’ve seen here so far. You can also check the rest of my discussion with Nakanishi and Kumazawa, including constant efforts to tell them something, about Leon Kennedy and why the couple try to find out what they qualify as “terrifying” after so many years. Earlier, we also talked with a couple on many other topics, such as the Raccoon City return and a fresh monster project.
