Ubisoft employees raised concerns about the company’s partnership with Saudi Arabia to create a recent Assassin’s Creed Mirage DLC, revealed a recent report.
The upcoming content was first reported in January by the French Gazeta Finanowa, Les echoeswho stated that DLC received funds from the controversial Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF). Ubisoft he did not answer Asked to me to comment on this report at that time.
A few months later, Ubisoft quietly announced DLC itself at the end of August in the social media post sent early morning. A brief disclosure confirmed that the add -on will see Mirage Hero Basim visiting Alulia, an old place, which is currently one of the cultural attractions of Saudi Arabia.
In internal questions and answers made available to Ubisoft employees and published by GamefileThe employee asked if the management believes that cooperation with Saudi Arabia, especially after killing and framing the Washington Post Jamala Khashoggi journalist, would destroy the company’s image.
The management answered, addressing the fact that Guillemot recently visited Saudi Arabia as part of a delegation next to the French President Emmanual Macron, but rejected it as “a classic diplomatic tool to expand the influence of France around the world” that would lend a hand spread the values of the country.
As for the origin of DLC, the management response to the request simply stated that Ubisoft “did not comment on gossip.”

The management of Ubisoft also tried to distinguish between the leader of the country and the chairman of PIF, Prince Saudi Mohammed Bin Salman and Pif himself. “The money of the latter is not MBS, but a conversation with partners who do not share our democratic values does not mean their abandonment,” we read in the company’s response.
Gamefile reports that Guillemot was again visited by Saudi Arabia last month to speak at a recent global sports conference and announce Alula DLC Mirage at a party (something that also explains the extraordinary time of messages made public at the same time, although without mention of Guillemot’s speech).
“We work with Alula, which is a UNESCO website, which is not yet very well known,” said Guillemote, announcing DLC at a Saudi event. “But we create content that will be provided for free to players who play Mirage and will be able to go on this page.
Ign recently asked Ubisoft for more details in this matter and he was told that, like in every Assassin’s Creed game, he had creative control over the proposed content. This update of the title for Assassin’s Creed Mirage was “possible thanks to the support of local and international organizations” – added Ubisoft, “through access to experts, historians and resources to ensure the creation of an real and exact setting.”
