The Nintendo Today application can apply the inaudible “Soundwave Signal” to verify its attendance at exclusive events

The fresh update for application for Nintendo smartphones contains a technologically advanced solution to verify your location at Nintendo events.

Participants of Nintendo Live 2025 Tokyo will be one of the first to receive bonus content through an application that will unlock if your phone detects inaudible transmission of the “sound signal” in this location.

As an alternative to scanning QR code (which requires finding the code and confusion with the phone camera), this is a clever idea – if it works as planned in a raucous environment.

“It should be remembered that verification can only be made in a dedicated space in place,” Nintendo told participants about technology, as they made Oat flakes. “To get detailed information, check the information on the spot.

“Verification of the attendance uses a wave signal. Unlike music, this is not a recognizable sound. The microphone on the smartphone may turn on during verification, but conversations and such data will not be recorded or collected.”

For people who will not participate in the Nintendo event in the near future, the new update of the Nintendo Today application is also noteworthy to add the Kirby theme. English (EU), Spanish (EU), Korean and traditional Chinese language support were also added. Finally, the application is now available for download in South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Launched this year as a dedicated Nintendo News center, the Nintendo Today application allows the company to disseminate information directly to its fans – without having to venture on X or other social media.

The application was first used to break many Nintendo ads before they are announced elsewhere, which is probably designed to encourage fans to check further. Today’s main Nintendo Direct, which is set at 6:00 Pacific, 9:00 Eastern time or 14:00 in Great Britain, will also be broadcast via the application.
