NBA 2K26 Review in progress

Published:

In many respects, the long -lasting NBA 2K Concepts series reflects the career of players that it is so much imitating. Sometimes this is a flash of potential: Hotshot debutant fire after displaying misfires in subsequent games. Others are more comparable to the course of a veteran approaching the pension – we see talents that look into what can be. This keeps me for better or worse, hoping for the best when I start playing NBA 2K26. It is both flashy and an aged school, just like the teacher “As you are, other children” who wears various Jordanians in class every day, has enough nippy novel kicks, fittings and tricks, so that it is much more fascinating and pleasant than last year, even after spending several dozen hours.

Of course, “cool” is probably not the right word to describe this teacher, not to mention NBA 2K26. After all, the annual sports game, of course, will not be radically a novel game, because most of its gameplay and mechanics is essentially similar to last year’s iteration, and earlier and so on. But in the context of the genre it made a good first impression, because a few minor improvements make such a huge difference for the whole that I am ready to say and risk that it is called a nerd. Yes, I’m talking about a novel and improved shot meter. As always, one of the smallest elements in a immense floor made of tough dribbling wood and intersecting parts leaves a huge impact on what turned out everything else on the pitch.

Green and slightly curved

If you were lucky that you didn’t experience last year’s shot meter, I envy you. Instead of a shield/arrow/ring induceing a nightmare with 2K25, NBA 2K26 has a much more intuitive, easier and infinitely better shot meter. If you heard it earlier, it’s because it is similar to 2K23 – but this is not completely reversing. Instead of staying a inert, the green field of the novel meter adapts to the defensive range: if the defender is on your face, you will practically not have a chance to make a shot. But if you are open, it will be much easier to spend and make a shot.

Trust me, I now have many more fun jumpers than this time last year, because I actually make them consistently. However, there is a miniature compromise: because it is easier to get greenery, there is also less space for imperfection. This means that if you get a bit early or a little delayed time, you might as well start running in defense, because the shot will be more than likely brick. After saying, I will take this meter of a shot every day of the week, barely improved chance to make incorrect shots.

Now I am a great believer in the concept “if it has not broken, not repaired”, because why ruin a good thing, right? But I am an even greater believer that if something is broken – like last year’s Janky Player – B7etter you can quickly fix. The visual concepts did this because the NBA 2K26 makes running, cutting and defending much smoother, that makes the 2K25 NBA movement seem to get stuck in sandy. This is a miniature change, because it penetrates each mode, thanks to which the whole NBA 2K26 is less robotic and much more natural and pleasant.

In addition, it makes one of my favorite novel functions, shots of fasting, looks even more true and realistic. Do you remember in last year’s review how disappointed I was that I couldn’t dominate the paint with Shimmy Shake Jokic or Embiid? Well, dreams come true because during the last day I spam Sombor Shuffle ungodly times in every match I play. It is a delightful methodical, bruise alternative to agile, speedy movements of typical movements, and I will apply it until AI learns to stop him. Until then, it is a grilled chicken warning each time.

Goodbye, yellow brick road

Now bad news. What, did you think that from now on it would be fine? Sorry, Dorothy, but the years were not kind to this yellow brick. And through “Yellow Brick Road” I mean the NBA 2K26 offline modes. Last year, the so -called Mynba improvements were at least disappointing. This time, dear friends, they are practically unmoved and, as a tractor of offline mode, I am very disappointed.

At least we added Steph from 2K25, although it seemed unnecessary with two other eras in 2010 (except for the Lebron era). Are you ready to hear what 2K26 Mynba modes have in the store? Drumroll, Ple … you know what, don’t even worry. This is called scripts out of season for mygm. These are adapted, long -term tasks for every franchise that you need to complete to placid the base of fans and, more importantly, owner.

These scenarios are in three and are distributed at the beginning of the season. But just like my problems with last year’s MyGM mode, these tasks (and many functions in the mode itself) feel forced and sometimes unreal. RPG elements, with their systems of points and attributes, seem out of place and unnecessary, because they hardly make a difference in a immense scheme of basketball operations. At the end of the day, it’s still about winning as many games as possible. Or, if you are at the other end of the spectrum, losing and refueling as much as possible. In general, the whole mode seems to be a side project hastily collected together just to get the last additional loan needed to go to classes.

Despite my problems with only offline modes, fundamental gameplay corrections show many promises in what I played with him on the first day. I am particularly excited to see what it looks like in Mycareer with a novel and improved story, as well as in a potentially shaky online game in Myteam. But after the suffering of last year’s meter and molass reminiscent movement, there is really nowhere to go. However, whether this shows in my final sentence and scoring points next week will be observable.
