Crystal Dynamics released an unknown number of employees after Microsoft’s Perfect Dark cancellation.

In the statement of LinkedInCrystal Dynamics confirmed the exemptions, but did not specify the number of people who had an impact.

“Today we made a very difficult decision to part with many talented colleagues as a result of evolving business conditions,” we read in a statement. “This decision was not made slightly. However, it was necessary to ensure the long -term health of our studio and basic creative priorities on the market that is constantly changing.”

The company also confirmed that Tomb Raider, still in development, was not influenced by the decision.

Although the statement does not clearly mention the perfect dim as the reasons for releases, many ex employees I published in social media, whose posts and profiles suggest that it was a game they were working on. These exemptions seem to be a delayed response to Xbox Anciling Perfect Dark, over which Crystal Dynamics worked with the initiative at the beginning of this year. The initiative was closed at the time of cancellation, in July.

Crystal Dynamics was originally brought in to revive the perfect darkness after struggling so that the project would move with the former coexisting, certain affinity. Crystal was later taken over by the Embler Group in 2022, when the studio showed that it has 273 employees in Austin, Bellevue and San Mateo offices. Crystal released ten people in 2023AND He slowed down 17 people at the beginning of this year. It is not clear how much it remains now.
