The double fine is ready to release a completely fresh game called Keper in October, but what then? According to the head of development, Tim Schafer is working on many projects in a studio belonging to Microsoft, none of which is a continuation.
Keper is an atmospheric adventure in which a long -term lighthouse will wake up and goes on a journey. It is run by Lee Petty from Double Fine, which means that Tim Schafer is skillful and free to work on other things.
What are these other things? Talking to IGN on Gamescom 2025, Schafer would of course not reveal the upcoming Double Fine games, but said that the studio has many projects in work and they are all original IP.
“I’m working on other things,” he confirmed. “The studio is now doing many projects and they are all original IPS, because we have done Psychonauts 2 and it will keep us in continuation for some time.”
So it excludes psychonauts 3 or-and it has always been unlikely-BRütal legend 2, at least in a tiny time. Because game developers like to speak, never speak, but rather the final comment of Schafer gives us an idea of what can be expected from a double fine in the coming years – and this is unexpected.

Psychonauts 2 was the first issue of Double Fine after Microsoft took over the company in 2019. Schafer had previously talked about how the double fine had to cut bosses because of budget fears, but buying Microsoft meant that it had resources to add them again. Schafer described Keper as a smaller scale compared to psychonauts 2, but with an impressive level of quality.
Psychonauts 2 was finally released in 2021. Now, four years later, Double Fine is going to release another game. Keper leaves October 17, 2025 on PC and Xbox Series X and S.
