Autonomous SharpDesk 5 review

Published:

The autonomous smartdesk 5 is not more steep than Ikea’s is sitting, it will happen, it’s … okay, that’s all, but it’s not bad for a desk below USD 300.

SharpDesk 5 is now USD 249/CAD 699Although it is usually USD 299. It is not yet available in Europe, only the more steep SharpDesk 2, but I would like to see how it will land here alone at this price. It is a great quality for the state price, more accessible than even FlexispotAnd we are a fan of several of his budget offices. It would be great to see how it lands on the Atlantic with similarly competitive prices.

Now the company name, autonomous. This suggests something like a magic robotic to walk their desk. This is not the case. I am cheerful to discover that the company does a robot, Alfred, although desks and chairs are very much NO In the same spirit. They are much more normal. Earlier we reviewed one of his offices, the autonomous Core Smartdesk.

The autonomous contains a diminutive box, which is located under his desks called Stand (part of his habits system) to reward users for actual during the day. When it comes to whether any box can make me become more often, it probably doesn’t happen without using a disturbing amount of tension to my shin, if I don’t follow, but I will give him a place when it appears and reports later.

The desk is equipped with a 48 -inch MDF desktop and 24 inches wide. It is quite light-I had no problem moving it yourself-I is equipped with screw holes pre-drilled on the bottom (which is not always given). There is a larger version, SharpDesk 5 Pro, with harder HDF computers with dimensions of 53 x 19 inches. Although this is an steep update for another 350 USD on the top (literally).

SharpDesk 5 helps reduce costs by employing only one engine. Most have two, one in any leg, but they only have one on the right and mounted outside the leg. This is a slightly more awkward solution, because you need to watch out for the engine that hit everything below when moving the desk up and down. In addition, you need to install a rod that transmits the power under the desk to connect each leg mechanism. It works great at least once. A single engine is able to raise 176 pounds (80 kg), just over half of what you will get with double engines (contained in the Pro model).

Returning to a flat box, which one day appeared at the door, it is a fairly basic desk to connect. I didn’t even have to ask my partner for support or All. This is a less testimony of my muscles, and the more lightweight nature of MDF and one -time structure.

After opening the box, I noticed a vast knock on MDF on the front edge of the desk. Fortunately, it is mainly on the front/bottom, not at the top. The packaging seemed largely suitable for the desk around the bends, but it clearly ended on the edge or fell at some point during a long journey from the USA to Great Britain. I asked autonomous about it, and in addition to offering a completely novel desktop computer (which I did not accept, it is perfectly useful), I was told that they were trying to improve the packaging to further protect the edge. In any case, counting white paint.

In addition, the rest of the package was well packed and everything in one piece. By removing legs, brackets and feet, you can start imagining how it all combines. There is also a miniature instruction manual if you prefer not to “rash it”, quoting one Jensen Huang.

The first step, build a diminutive bridge with legs and combining brackets. Then add your feet. Attach desktop computers. Connect the energy rod that probably has a more official name, and then turn the plot to the expectant desktop. Screw with the supplied screws (only the Allen key and the Philips-Head-Pudelo screwdriver contains both). Finally, attach to the bottom control panel. From there, if you prefer, you can attach diminutive orange hooks and cable plates to the bottom.

Being a slightly smaller desktop than, say, Secretlab Magnus Pro XL, I sat down next to it, it is much easier to maneuver without a problem. Scoooch is one way, Schoooch, the other, back, Scoo … I’m sorry. Even on my relatively shaggy carpet floor, they do not catch, which makes such movements basic to make. However, the feet are adjustable, which helps to level the desktop after placing on a challenging surface.

If you planned to operate it as the main desktop computer, you would not be too narrow in space. This will be granted somewhat dominated by a double monitor configuration, especially if you feel without a monitoring arm. The same applies to everyone who hopes to mount the computer on the desktop itself. This is not only in the amount of valuable space, but also an additional weight for lifting the engine. This limit of lifting 176 pounds (79.8 kg) will be absorbed by a hefty PC tower, several monitors (maybe 5-10 kg of art) and all your Smitsky figurines – what do you mean you don’t have any?!

Although the size of the desktop computer and the mass limit are not extremely limiting. Sure, you should probably not apply the whole weight to it to change the bulb (seriously, do not do it), but it is reasonable enough. There is a lot of space for a full -size keyboard, a vast bowl, a monitor and many more. And it rises at a reasonable speed.

He will also detect when it is not able to be much further and reverse what is good if you come across something under the desk during change. To say that, it took a rather stationary object to put it away, and the pile of the motherboard fields, on which I tested, was quite neat before he decided to stop and reverse the equipment.

Buy if …

✅ You want inexpensive and basic to operate desk standing: A single engine may not have OPH some double traffic offices, but it is present and facilitates the passage of sitting/standing all day. Now it depends on you whether to make a decision to do it.

✅ You want to gather yourself: If you do not feel like means in a pal for a desk compilation, SharpDesk 5 is diminutive enough and lightweight enough to allow solo compilation.

Don’t buy if …

❌ You want to load many monitors and a computer tower to the desktop itself: A single engine weight limit is a bit limiting in terms of how many others things You can put on this desk. They don’t stand on it, right?

The desk is basic to adjust – much easier than a manual sitting/standing desk. It is basic to set certain heights to sitting, and in my case with a stool. Just press the up/down button to the desired position, press the set, and then apply it to one of the three pre -settings using the appropriate buttons. It works significantly in the same way as my Secretlab desk nearby, and although the buttons are slightly less responsive than Secretlab, the price difference between them is exponential.

I don’t have a desktop yet in any eternal way. I built two gaming computers at the top, both with rubber feet, and diminutive signs were easily removed. The coating seems to be relatively challenging worn, although exposed by a nodule in transit, below is a bare MDF, which may require oil -based paint covering in an unfortunate event of unfair scratch or scratching.

All in all, it is largely only a packaging that allows SharpDesk 5 to reduce, but I would like to check whether autonomous will introduce some improvements in this department. Shipping this desk in the middle of the world will never be good for his health, but it seems that this is a repaired problem with a slightly larger lining around longer computer lengths. In addition to this one problem, the desk is a real winner.

This is a lot of SIT/Stand experience. It does not require half of the funds or manual vision, which I am convinced that nobody still uses the most precise first months. It works great, automatically, like any other high -quality motorized SIT/Stand desk. And all for $ 250. Heck yes, I’m impressed.
