Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima is a busy guy. Since parting ways with Metal Gear publisher Konami and founding Kojima Productions as an independent studio in 2015, Kojima has released Death on the beach in cooperation with Sony and announced three more titles: Death on the Stranding 2action-espionage game Physicist (also from Sony) and WITHhorror game released by Xbox Game Studios.
There is little certainty on this subject WITHin addition to using Xbox cloud technology to create something (Kojima said) “groundbreaking” and “immersive” that “no one has done before.” It will also be a collaboration between Kojima and filmmaker Jordan Peele (Get off, NO), and other unnamed creators. Read on to find out every detail we managed to dig up WITH.
What is WITHrelease date?
No idea, sorry. Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios haven’t announced a release date yet WITHWe can say one thing: with the studio Death on the Stranding 2 is set to be released in 2025, it is very unlikely WITH will be released before 2026 at the earliest.
Is WITH Xbox exclusive option?
Hard to say! Since this is being published by Xbox Game Studios, the assumption is that WITH will release on Xbox Series X and Windows PC, and will also take pride of place on the Game Pass subscription service, like all internal Xbox games. It’s worth noting, however, that no platform is mentioned in the trailer. Depending on how long it takes to make, it’s not impossible that WITH will appear on the next-generation Xbox console.
It’s also possible that Microsoft will decide to release the game on other, competing platforms like PlayStation — a decision the company has made recently with Xbox titles like Sea of Thievesand, according to sources, no Microsoft game is considered off-limits for cross-platform release. That said, the point of signing a Hideo Kojima game to your platform is the prestige and media attention it brings, as opposed to mass sales. So that would be a robust argument for WITH the rest are available exclusively on Xbox.
Another potential influencing factor WITHplatform accessibility is the employ of Xbox cloud gaming technology. This could limit it to Xbox platforms — or, just as likely, could make the game easier to play anywhere, on anything. WITH be the first cloud gaming exclusive to Xbox?
Who is in the cast?
WITHThe game’s trailer, which premiered at the Game Awards 2023, revealed the names of three actors who will appear in WITHand presented their performances: Sophia Lillis (This, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), and Thigh of Kier (literally hundreds Hollywood and European art films from the 1970s to the present day). Nothing is known about the roles that these three actors will play.
One person who is NO It has been confirmed that it will appear in WITH Is Margaret Qualley. Qualley appeared in a leaked video demoing Kojima’s horror game called Overdose which came out in 2022, but which may have been from earlier. Although it is likely the same design as WITHIt’s possible that the video was a proof-of-concept demonstration and that Qualley filmed it while she was working with Kojima on the first Death on the beach.
Who else is collaborating on this project besides Jordan Peele?
During the announcement WITH At the Game Awards 2023, Kojima appeared alongside Peele and revealed that he will be working closely with the horror creator WITH. Kojima also said Peele wasn’t his only collaborator on the project: He said he had assembled a team of “legendary” storytellers to work on the game, which he called “The Avengers.”
The identities of the other creators remain a mystery, though Kojima has not shied away from boasting about their influence. “Once we reveal those names, my name will be completely forgotten,” Kojima said on Kojima Productions YouTube Channel“Whenever I show this list to agents and managers, they have a hard time believing it’s real. They say, ‘How did you get all these people who won’t listen to anyone else? How do you do it?'”
Possible horror-related names include Kojima’s friend Guillermo del Torowho played a role in Death on the beach and was supposed to collaborate with Kojima on his canceled horror game from Konami, Silent Hills; and Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsummer) which is one of the many Hollywood types that has visited Kojima Productions offices in Tokyo.
What’s going to be WITHWhat will the gameplay look like and how will it employ cloud technology?
Once again, WITHThe game’s gameplay remains a mystery, though Kojima has heavily hinted that it will be, at the very least, unusual. When he first announced the collaboration with Xbox, Kojima said he was creating a “never-before-seen concept” using Xbox’s cloud gaming technology. Kojima reiterated that message on WITHunveiling, saying the title “is a game, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a movie. It’s a new form of media.”
Kojima Productions says the game “explores the concept of fear threshold testing and what it means WITH about fear — while blurring the lines between games and movies.”
They leaked Overdose The footage (which is no longer available online) showed what appeared to be a fairly standard survival horror game, with Qualley’s character exploring a spooky abandoned building with a flashlight and being captured by a killer. The video also included a picture-in-picture element showing a woman playing the game on what appeared to be a mobile device.
Some unverified leak from playtest claimed that the game was an “experimental multimedia engagement experience” with “lengthy cutscenes” and “active and passive gameplay”. Players allegedly “directed” in-game characters using information from sources outside the game, such as websites.
Is there a connection with Silent Hills?
Kojima’s first attempt at horror was a canceled film Silent Hillswhich produced the legendary playable demo PT One sec Overdose it is unlikely to be connected Silent Hills anyway (the Silent Hill series is owned by Konami), Kojima Productions put a hidden plot in it WITHA trailer that appears to be a — rather unrecognized — tribute to an unrealized project.
