Review Tetris Tetris 2s – Pleasant, entertaining mysterious

Tetris is one of my favorite games. Things cannot be much better than arranging colorful blocks with more and more manic speeds. At least I thought so before I started playing Puyo Puyo Tetris 2s And he discovered the strange joy of Puyo battles.

Despite my love for charming anime and puzzle games, I never tried the title Puyo Puyo before this review, but I was always curious. Fortunately, Sega again gave the continuation of the Tetris crossover exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, so I decided to jump for the first time. Because it is Reelease, the story is practically the same as the game in 2020, which we discussed in our review Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, but it is still novel to me.

After the first game, Puyo Puyo Tetris, the worlds of Puyo and Tetris are again separated, and Ringo, Tee, and their companions don’t remember anything. Regardless, they join forces to chase the novel antagonist, Marle, through Suzuran, Primp Town and SS Tetra, recruiting allies and taking part in the battles of Puyo Puyo and Tetris. As Ruby mentioned in her original review, history and interactions can become somewhat repetitive over time, but the designs of the character are cute, it is fully expressed, and writing is quite fun. In addition, you can skip movie cutscenes to get straight to the puzzles if you prefer.

As I said earlier, I love Tetris, but Puyo Puyo is an unknown territory for me, so I met with a learning curve getting used to combining combinations. Fortunately, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2s has the entire section devoted to the lessons of both puzzle games, so browsing and slowly my Puyo skills have improved. The battles are also a bit hard to initially develop your head, because you need to balance your mysterious skills with special character skills and objects modifiers, but each level has recommended equipment, and you can change the game modes, if, like me, you feel more comfortable with both.

Although I love the challenge in my logic games, I don’t like banging my head against the wall to progress, and Puyo Puyo Tetris 2s has many functions to experience adventure mode, not frustrating. In addition to the battle mode, which I just mentioned, you can change the level of difficulty in fighting whenever you want, or just completely skip the stage if it gives you a hard time. I love it when games recognize that there is no shame in basic games or skipping levels. The games are to be fun at the end of the day.

The design of the Puyo Puyo character is one of my favorite items in the series, so I really like to adapt my profile to various avatars, frames and background to match my character. I played as Yu and Rei, a pair of ghosts that were novel in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2s, and my profile is very charming to match them. Unfortunately, I was not able to show this to many people, because every time I tried to play online, I could not find a match.

This is a real shame, because although the beating of the processor can initially satisfying, I would rather test my skills against a stranger online and climb the ranks of Tetris. I am not sure if this is the lack of marketing in the Nintendo Switch 2 game version, or whether the intended audience willingly stick to the original version five years ago, but the failure to get involved in a huge part of the game is a massive disadvantage.

The main novel function of Puyo Puyo Tetris 2s for Switch 2 is the mouse control support. In general, I was quite a great supporter of the mouse control potential for Switch 2, especially since you can exploit a USB mouse of another company when the console is bankned, but I’m not sure if they work here. The diagram of the control of this game for a robbed and portable game is already so intuitive that an attempt to adapt to a completely novel, single Joy-Con system seems unnecessary and troublesome. Of course, some professional players can say that mouse checks give them higher precision and faster response times, but I doubt that they exploit Joy-Con mice. I would prefer an arcaded peripheral joystick to imitate Tetris.

In general, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2s is a fun and carefree logical game with a wide range of game modes and a multi -person potential – a local multiplayer player is still great, even if online is not profitable now. It is the same price digitally as an original game for Nintendo Switch, but with a few novel functions, so if you are looking for a novel add -on for Nintendo Switch 2, you should try.
