Privacy functions

Regardless of whether you are looking for a way to watch your favorite stream transmission service on your phone, or do you need to utilize VPN to protect the IP address during online games, you need VPN with decent privacy functions.

Most importantly, Surfshark offers standard AES-256 encryption. A unique, dedicated IP address is available, with an immediate result of reducing the CAPTCHAS frequency and avoiding rainfall from the “bad” activity of other VPN users. Instead of suffering from blocking the VPN IP and changing with servers, you have your own IP address.

Using Surfshark VPN on a smartphone

The most essential reason why mobile applications are successful depends on how simple their utilize is. In most cases, you do not want to spend centuries on your thumb by the VPN customer. Instead, you want to make a connection and then take care of the day.

Thanks to Surfshark you get a good Quick Connect button that connects to the last used VPN server. You can also choose the fastest connection and the closest options of the country. After connecting, you can see information about the connection and used protocol, along with the murder switch switch (useful to maintain privacy, if you are disconnected).

The choice of servers is simply a case of browsing the location list. You can also choose from the Static IP tab or multihop tabs (which I will explain in more detail later). Meanwhile, all other functions are nicely hidden in the settings menu. Here you will find things such as protocol switches.

In the spring of 2025, Surfshark started a free trial, so I wanted to try it out. You can register in a browser or download a mobile application from Google Play or App Store and register in this way. The process is fully functional and works for recent and elderly customers. Earlier I used and tested Surfshark, so I expected that I did not qualify for a 7-day free process. This is not the case. Although I had to submit details about the payment, no payment was collected and I was able to cancel easily (even if I didn’t want to).

Surfshark has a set of privacy functions that are similar to those that can be found in other VPN Premium services. However, its double VPN systems, divided tunneling and network limiting systems received quite fascinating names.

Instead of dual VPN (rouding movement by two servers), it is “dynamic multihop”. Instead of darkened servers, Surfshark offers “camouflage mode”. The Surfshark advertising tool is called “Cleanweb” and its divided tuning system is known as “bypasser”.

I really like these names. It seems that they were invented to make sense for normal people, not those of us who have used VPN for years. Take a camouflage mode that sounds like “Incognito mode”. I have been encouraging the main VPN current for a long time, and perhaps this terminology can assist Surfshark in the crack of this barrier.

Efficiency

You really want to know how this VPN supports streaming and game.

Thanks to streaming, I tested it with Disney+, Netflix and Prime Video, gaining access to American libraries from Great Britain. Everything worked well, without noticeable delays or disconnections.

Using Surfshark to gain access to online games is equally skillful. Of course, I tried Fortnite (using a local VPN server), and the delay was negligible compared to a connection without VPN. Speedtest.net did not assess the connection good enough for games, so keep this in mind.

I tested Surfshark using its servers of Great Britain, the USA (New York) and South Korean VPN in relation to the standard domestic Wi-Fi connection.

These speeds seem comparable to other VPN, which I tested and are delivered with an additional advantage of streaming support. If you are directed to the VPN industry, you may think that this is only due to the connection with NORD safety. However, I think there is something more about it.

Final verdict

At this price, Surfshark is as attractive as his slightly more renowned competitors. But his useful mobile application and bright removal of “jargonist” in favor of, of course, descriptive names for its main functions raise it. Post the basics of encrypted connections, increased online privacy and support for streaming services – not to mention online games – and it becomes clear that Surfshark is not only a regular place on these lists of the best VPN.

Surfshark is a solid VPN service, the perfect entrance to VPN for novices, and the mobile application quickly became my favorite VPN customer.
