Mihoyo has announced today that American players of Genshin Impact will have to verify their accounts to prove their age in order to comply with the US regulations. The company stated that it would start verification from May 20, and players would have until July 18. If the account is not verified, they will be suspended and personal data will be deleted next year. The full statement of Mihoyo can be seen below.

The law is obliged to verify the US players’ account. The age verification process will be introduced to all US players by May 20 while logging in (if they already have it) or account registration. Make sure you provide information about age until July 18, 2025. Failure to verify:
- Account
- Friends and chat records will be removed
- No further notifications after suspension due to inaccessible account information, in accordance with the requirements of the law
If the verification is not completed by July 20, 2026, your Hoyoverse personal data will be permanently deleted.
Currently, there is no similar announcement regarding Zenless Zone Zone Zeone Zen or Honkai Star Rail. Although the exact US law has not yet been described in detail by the studio, and in the whole country there are a number of provisions regarding age verification, which vary depending on the state.
