Nikoderiko: The Magical World – Cut Director issued as a free update

In 2024, the independent VEA Games programmer was published by Nikoderiko: The Magical World, their love letter to classic platforms. Now they have published the cutting of the director, which stroked the game and adds novel content, and offered it as a free update.

If you missed Nikoderiko for the first time, this is a cordial platformer family with an art style inspired by cartoons on Saturday morning. There is Mongooses Niko and Luna and can be played in cooperation for one player or sofa. You travel through the various worlds of games in search of an historic relic of you stolen by the wicked Baron Grimbold and you can join forces with animal mounts to defeat his army of mocking and save local tribes.

Since the release of the basic version of the game, DEV has received extensive feedback from players and worked on as much improvement as possible thanks to the director’s cut -out.

“We have a lot of e -Mail; I personally read and answer every e -mail,” said Dmitriry Smirnov, founder of Vea Games and director Nikoderiko. “We tried to implement all the necessary functions you asked for. There are many ideas for the game and how to improve the game. It really helps us create a good game with a great game.”

One of the biggest improvements in the director’s cut is to extend his difficulties, which are focused on a wider range of players and levels of experience. For hardcore players there is a novel challenging mode with level modifiers.

“It will push the players,” said Smirnov. “There are more challenges, more difficult but honest mechanics. We would like to give you the experience of playing in the soul in a family platformer.”

At the other end of the spectrum, the uncomplicated mode was easier, reducing the barrier in the entrance for younger players or those who novel in games or platform genre. After all, it is a family game.

“We decided to make him more accessible to children and younger players,” said Smirnov. “During the development of Nikoderiko it was nice to know that my children would be able to feel the same impressions as in childhood.”

According to the subject of sharing Nikoderiko as many people as possible, the director’s excision adds text and voice options for several languages, including German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese. For the first time, he also adds compatibility from the steam deck.

There is also a novel secret eighth world that players could unlock with their own hidden treasures and a novel boss. Together with the novel world, a novel music of the experienced composer David Wise appears, who composed the soundtrack for the basic game. Wise has been working in games for over 30 years and is probably best known for his work at Donkey Kong Country Series.

“On the fourth birthday I got a gift and it was a Donkey Kong country,” said Smirnov. “I have always loved to play with my brother and it changed my direction in my life because I was very inspired by graphics and mystical and atmospheric music.”

In addition to all the novel content in cutting the director, what was already there was improved. The graphics have been updated, the animations have improved, and the performance has been optimized on all platforms.

If you have already bought Nikoderiko, the director’s cuts are available as a free update and is compatible with the previous saved games, so you don’t have to start again. In the case of achievement hunters, the update adds novel trophies and achievements on the appropriate platforms.

If you did not raise it before, the director’s cutting has replaced the basic game on all platforms, so buying it will now provide an extended version. It is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Amazon Luna, so you can safely say that you probably have access to it. It is also offered on sale quite regularly, so you can always wish them on the preferred platform and buy when it is at a price with which you are comfortable.

A physical edition has recently been announced for collectors among you to be released on August 22. The game base will be available by itself, and there will also be a collector’s edition, which is delivered with the game, David Wise soundtrack on the CD and the official Arterok from about 100 pages.
