Croc: Legend of the Gobbos Remastered Review – Return -Solid Return

Verdict

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos Remastered is just as fun as the original, reminding people that it is not only Crash, Mario and Sonic, who had great games in the 1990s. Modern graphics are pleasure, the control elements are polished, and the levels remain both arduous and gleeful; This is not a sleeping game if you like platforms.

I am a child of the 90s. I grew up in the golden age of platformers, with characters such as Sonic, Crash, Spyro and Mario dominate my video game collection. One day my mother returned home with a recent game, one with a charming crocodile on the cover. This should be called croc and to this day I look back at frustrating hours with a nice smile. Croc: Legend of the Gobbos It is a large part of my childhood, along with the legends, which I have already mentioned, so you can imagine my emotions at the thought of a remaster.

In 2017, the Crash Bandicot N. trilogy opened the door, showing that platformers from the past still have some place, something that Spyro again presented the trilogy after the release in 2018. Then there are numerous Mario games and all other modifications and remasters that show how wonderful elderly games can be for both developers and players. Since the N. Sane trilogy, I often think about what other characters deserve this treatment, and I would lie if I said that I don’t think I think.

Fortunately for me, I not only make my dreams come true, but I can review the game on Nintendo Switch – Baby Kayleigh would not believe it. In even better news for me, Croc: Legend of the Gobbos Remastered is just as good as I hoped that it would be another unique experience, although maybe even more frustrating than before – it’s because I’m not so sizzling in platforms, not because the game is bad. This is just the opposite.

As soon as I fired the game, the logo loaded and the opening scene played, I was ready to do everything to save these cute little gobbos again. Look at them, with how charming they are, you just need to aid Croc save them. In the second place I took control of the titular green crocodile, I knew that I had a feast, I run and jump through these elderly -school levels, which look rather juicy after this polished paint.

However, one of my favorite functions is to switch between remastered and retro graphics, so you can experience croc in all its original glory if you want. To be candid, I think some levels look better in their original skin. There is something extremely charming in these winter tundras from the 90s.

Like many platforms of those times, the story of Croc is plain (the performer rescuing his friends), just like the levels, but this does not make them easier, even if the first couple gives a false sense of security. Do not worry, after the first island is over, the game quickly reminds you that you are not really a platform God.

Jumping, running and all movement seem polished, so I can’t really blame the game when I can’t jump – for the most part. I can still put a part of the fault on the camera, because the remaster has problems with the camera such as the original. For the remaster, the camera can be some pain, being leisurely movement and a bit awkward, but when you get used to it, it’s not so bad.

The levels have great designs containing secret passages, crashing boxes, climbing walls, hole holes, gobbos and jewels to collect. Głosknots are your best friend, especially like rings in sound games, they keep you alive when you are hit, but you lose each of them, so you must be brisk if you want to gather them before they disappear. Too often, the level goes well, only for me I fell in lava, become hit or made a stupid mistake at the finish line, costing me all these jewels, and because 100 of them rewards you with life, it is more than a bit annoying.

Colorful jewels also hide at every level and collect all five awards with something similar to bonus scenes from Crash Bandicot Games. At the end of each level there are wooden doors, which they unlock only with gems, giving a chance to save more gobbos, picking up additional gems or wasting all your life trying and not making the same jump many times. Yes, I say from salty experience. Can you say

Sometimes not only platform goodness at the stage; From time to time you also meet bosses, but they are plain. I can honestly say that I have never died of any of them, but there? Yes, I will fall at least five times.

When it comes to performance, I don’t only praise for Croc Remastered on Nintendo Switch. It works perfectly in both overwhelmed and portable mode, without problems that you can talk about, the controls are polished, and the game now looks as wonderful as in 1997, regardless of whether you apply recent fancy graphics or take the original.

Although I can’t praise any croc game for doing anything original, the remaster serves as a reminder of how good the series is and that a charming crocodile deserves a headlight. Are you an existing fan like me, or someone who wants to experience the game after it starts to be missing the first time, you will not regret buying it. Croc Remastered is the joy of the game from beginning to end, and I, for example, are excited that I can ride the Nostalgia train.
