Today, Jagex announced that it introduces the world of Runescape to the fresh genre: survival. The developer revealed Runescape: Dragonwilds, a cooperative game of the open world survival, which appears at early access to this spring.
Dragonwilds takes place in Ashenfall, a fresh continent in the Runescape universe, where one to four players can cooperate to learn fresh skills, build camps, grow and survive against powerful enemies, including a lot of dragons. Ashenfall has two regions, with five unique biomes and potential to add more later after starting. Although Ashenfall is not the same continent, most Runescape takes place, Runescape fans will find a lot of knowledge in the world, including some locations that can resemble known places from Runescape, such as a wizarding tower or a certain castle …
Monsters can also look familiar, but come with an accent. While you will still see rats, dragons, trolls, cows and other creatures that you remember from Runescape, Wild Magic Ashenfall distorted these creatures in strange, nature with nature with fresh performances and mergers with plants, thorns and other wild battles.
The basis of survival in Dragonwilds is the development of skills and yes, they include classic Runescape, such as cooking and wood. These skills allow you to interact with the world in various ways – when I saw a few clips of the game at the Game Programmers conference at the beginning of this month, I was shown clips of a player using wind runes to get the opportunity to move in the air. Even more nostalgic was the skill of woodening, which allows players to set up trees and throw a spectral ax to chop them immediately. This movement I was told was described as a “TOP-TRAL projection”.
Runescape: Dragonwilds introduces early access to the PC this spring, hoping for a wider premiere (including console) in 2026. Jagex will host a deep disclosure of the game on Twitch on April 15 at 9:00 pt.
