Blizzard announced today that he would once again organize the BlizzCon personal convention at the Anaheim Convention Center. However, this will happen by 2026.
In today’s press release, Blizzard revealed further personal dates of BlizzCon: 12 and 13 September 2026. He also promised to restore his favorite elements of convention, such as opening ceremony, panels, The Darkmoon Faire, competitions and practical gameplay. In addition, Blizzard claims that “he strives to significantly improve this iconic celebration and create an unforgettable experience for everyone who takes part in it.”
Blizzard did not explain why he skipped 2025, or whether he has plans for any online celebrations this year.
Blizzcon’s status has been rocky in the last few years. Earlier, the annual event was, like many other similar events, canceled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He returned in 2021 as a digital show in 2021, and then re -drove in 2022. In 2023, Blizzcon was detained again in person with plans to make it in 2024, but the event was also canceled for this year. Although no reason was given at that time, the 2024 cancellation occurred after it took over by Microsoft and the rash of mass layoffs throughout the company.
The question remains what Blizzcon will look like as part of Microsoft’s supervision and we will not find the answer to at least next year. At least we have a lot of time to plan our cosplay.
