Termal Grizzly TG Petty Review

Published:

Founded about 12 years ago in Germany, Termal Grizzly perhaps became . Name related to cooling products to the curled, high -performance computer equipment. Participated by Roman Hartung (aka The8ver), it has never been to avoid trying all kinds of things to squeeze a little more from the game platform, and next to the range of thermal strips and pads now offers something that is called a thermal zingy.

It is literally sold as Tg kitInstead of having the name of the “player”, so at least you know exactly what you get. It is designed for employ instead of thermal pads on the graphics card and because the electrical substance can be a spoon or squeezed, all guessing with a thickness of the pad is removed.

At least this is the theory, because in practice, knowledge about how much it downloads to employ is hard to determine. Thermal Grizzly provides some tips on the product page, but the whole process has a significant degree of trial and errors.

There are three TG TGs to choose (basic, advanced and Pro), but other than some quite generalized descriptions of their thermal conductivity (“moderate, good, perfect”) and the color of Putta (pink, blue and silver gray), leave which version is most suitable for your needs based on the price.

All KIT TG variants are available in a 30 g bathtub (1.06 ounces), along with three plastic platules and a very low user manual. The TG Petty Basic bathtub will restore you $ 16 /15, while advances and prods cost $ 26 USD / 25 USD and $ 42 /40. This is a price difference of 168% between basic and pro versions, but without any technical information or statistics it is not possible to find out if the professional is 168% better.

Thermal Grizzly suggests that one 30 g of bathtub should be sufficient to cover VRAM modules and VRM components on most graphics cards, while two bathtubs will probably be needed if someone plans to fill the rear card area. I received three samples of each version, so I decided to choose the right graphic processor to test it all.

I decided to employ Zotac Gaming RTX 4070 TI Trinity OC, the card I bought when Nvidia launched its RTX 40 series. He never had any problems with the GPU temperature, but in hefty, lasting loads, VRAM often reached 90 ° C. This is within work, but I always felt that it could be easily reduced.

Forged application

Thermal Grizzly recommends that all areas in which the putty is applied to be thoroughly cleaned with conventional isopropanol, so after removing the test card and exfoliating the original thermal pads, I wiped the VRAM modules and VRM components with a thermal sale.

Starting from TG Putty Pro to find out what the “best” version had to offer, at first I tried to apply it directly to the heat base. However, I quickly learned that my mental impressions about how Kit would look like before he tested, they were extremely improper-and they are not a hefty, half-sprayed relationship, Petty TG is quite exquisite and prefers to stick to everything other than himself.

Ultimately, I abandoned the application of heat ketility and instead I used the whole bathtub to cover the GDDR6X chips and supplying power that would usually be covered with a thermal pad. As you can see, my efforts were not as professional as possible, but theoretically it should not matter. Kitka does not run electricity, so it can be freely applied to any surface – but it is critical to avoid dying GPU.

In order to test thermal performance, I ran a 20 -minute 3DMark speed way loop, 1080p. This specific test includes a lot of memory/memory records and works very demanding GPU.

Thermal performance

The above chart shows characters for the main and GPU hotspot for an critical reason, although the putty is used only to chilly VRAM. GeForce RTX Series graphics At this point, the thermal paste between dying GPU and heat is slowly squeezing, leaving the matrix surface with smaller and smaller paste.

I mention this because the 40 RTX series cards usually have heavily connected heat to exert enough pressure on the system. What I noticed at the first application is that the GPU temperatures immediately donated their maximum boundaries, and the GPU clocks choked immediately to prevent damage.

The second and third attempts at the application included packing more kit, to the extent that I used almost two full bathtubs, but I could not lower the main temperature and hotspot to the same characters that can be seen using the original thermal pads.

While VRAM temperatures were much lower, all this turned out to be a huge mistake. After completing the three applications of Pro Petty, I cleaned as much as I could, and then used the basic kit, using the same amount as my third attempt from Pro.

The card managed one full mileage, with temperatures similar to those as above, but with the second attempt to apply the test computer completely froze. After that, it never started again and after trying the graphics card on many other computers, I realized that it had completely disappointed.

As for why it happened, I suspect that hotspot temperatures are a hint – again exceeding 100 ° C, and the impact 110 ° C in the first test waveforms was probably too high for the GPU. I am still trying to resurrect the graphics card, but at the time of writing she is still dead.

Buy if …

✅ You are an enthusiast of evaluation who wants to find the best possible cooling solution: You must have all the skills and tools necessary to solve all problems during assembly.

✅ You are ready to accept that you can damage and even permanently spoil the graphics card: Although it is electrically non -conducive, if you cannot correctly mount the GPU heat with a kit, it overheats.

Don’t buy if …

❌ You can’t afford to replace the graphics card if something goes wrong: Finding the right thermal pads is hard, but it is a less risky proposal.

The failure of my graphics card meant that I was objected to how to assess the thermal grizzly ketla. VRAM temperatures were much lower using KIT compared to the original thermal pads, so on this basis it is an amazing product.

However, this is not the least basic to employ, at least not neat and consistently. During the tests, I was thinking about buying a gigantic plastic syringe and experimenting with squeezing how slightly the cake suffers, but the failure of the GPU paid in the study of this method.

A single test of the test, which I have achieved thanks to the basic Petty TG, also suggests that for most users it is good enough for employ. However, at the time of writing this review, Thermal Grizzly was not able to a professional, which suggests that assessment enthusiasts are interested only in using the best materials, which raises the question, why Termal Grizzly thinks that three variants would be captivating.

But by far the biggest problem related to using Putta is the fact that some, if not a lot, graphics cards rely At the thickness and resistance to the compression of thermal pads to make sure that heat exerts sufficient pressure on the GPU matrix. The employ of compact pads on heat mounting screens can be a suitable substitute, but all this simply adds to nature putty.

A single tg of TG Petty Basic is more or less the same in the price as 1.5 mm hefty, 120 x 100 mm the grizzly thermal strip TG minus pad basic padReplacement thermal washer. My tests suggest that one bathtub may not be sufficient and it would buy at least two to ensure enough kit to do the work. The same can of course be true in the case of a thermal washer, but not one saving All cash with Kitta.

For most PC Putty TG players, it is not worth buying, and the result reflects it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the product itself, although I wonder if there is any significant difference between the three variants. However, as I showed, either by bad luck, or just stupidity, the risk of a graphics card is potentially catastrophic.

Only grave, experienced rating will be really interested in putty, and everyone who broke non -standard water configurations, soldering voltage mods or processors will be at home with TG Petty. For them, it is certainly worth considering, but as he says, Audens Fortuna Iuvat.
