Microsoft confirmed that Fable was delayed by 2026, giving programmers to playing playground to revive this classic RPG series.
The message came from the head of Xbox Game Studios Craig Duncan – previously infrequent studies, until promotion last year – which spoke in the latest official Podcast Xbox.
“We previously announced the date of Fable as 2025, in fact we will give Fable more time and now it will be sent in 2026,” he said. “Although I know that these are not messages that people want to hear, I want to provide people that it is definitely worth waiting, and I have clear confidence in the playground team.”
Duncan also shared up-to-date fragments of the material, apart from what was previously shown in the trailer last year, showing a fragment of the fight against werewolf, goblins, ATMs in the city and a break with cooked eggs and a bearing trap. Nothing too deep, but diminutive fragments to demonstrate the continuous quality of the visualization that the playground is cooking.

“Just think about the visualization of what you expect from play games,” he said, “plus amazing gameplay, British humor, the version of Albion on the playground inspired by what was previously with the franchise, but to be sincere, the most beautifully realized version of Albion you’ve ever seen.
“So excited about plans and very excited about the future and I want the community to understand that we do these things for the best games and teams, and ultimately it causes the best games.”
This time it will be naturally used to further improve and polish the game, but there is probably wider strategic planning here. This is a potentially similar situation to the release of AVOWED. This game was set at the end of 2024, but Microsoft will see that the end of last year was (at that time) full of other vast premieres to the game, they decided to bounce it back at the beginning of 2025 to find a little more space to breathe.
For Fable, the elephant in the room is GTA 6. While Rockstar games were traditionally inclined to achieve a lot of delay, Take two many times that this is goals at the end of 2025. Other publishers are reasonably cautious about what inevitably will be the biggest game of the decade, so we have already seen the next battlefield with a adaptable release window to try and give Diging. It makes sense that Microsoft does the same, even though the fairy tale is in a completely different genre.
At the moment Fable appears on the Xbox Series X | S and PC. Who knows if he will appear elsewhere later. He will probably do it.
