Final Fantasy creator wants to release one more game as part of his “farewell note” and hopes it will be a follow-up to the fan-favorite entry in the series

Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi has at least one more game in store, and it may just take some cues from the much-loved entry in the series.

Few developers have as long a list of iconic titles under their belt as Sakaguchi, but I suppose that’s probably what will happen when you become a Final Fantasy creator. He has been working on his own studio Mistwalker for a long time, most recently working on Fantasian (which just got a console re-release last month), and as it turns out, the developer still plans to make at least one more game. Sakaguchi recently spoke with Edge about Fantasian, as well as what it’s like to work with Square Enix again, but what’s most captivating are his comments about the next game he wants to work on.

“I thought Fantasian Neo Dimension would be my last work, but working with the fantastic team that came together to complete this project was so enjoyable that it was hard for me to say goodbye,” Sakaguchi explained when asked if he would stick with it project. known styles and genres or do something fresh. “Humans are greedy creatures, aren’t they? For this reason, I am currently working on a fresh project with the same team that worked on Fantasian Neo Dimension. Overall, it will be in a similar style to my previous works and will be something that could be a successor to Final Fantasy 6 in a good sense of the word – our goal is to create something senior, but at the same time fresh. While it’s bittersweet that this is the second part of his farewell note, it’s stimulating to hear that he’s working on something inspired by Final Fantasy 6. While it could be argued that every entry in the mainline Final Fantasy games is a fan favorite, 6 is definitely high up there this list, almost certainly in part because it was the last game before the switch to 3D, but also because of its grand, dramatic, and thrilling story. I’m sure we might have to wait a while for that though, so maybe just spend that time on Replay 6 or even try the pretty good Fantasian Neo Dimension.
