Netflix is ​​raising prices again, even for people watching with ads

Netflix announced that it will charge users between $12 and $24 more per year, depending on subscription level. Even viewers who already watch ads will have to pay more to see their favorite shows.

Business announced price increases with its latest earnings call revealing that the streaming platform has over 300 million subscribers worldwide, including 19 million more users in the last quarter alone. Now everyone will be greeted with a higher monthly price at their next renewal.

Here are the price changes for each plan level:

  • Standard with ads: $7 a month to $8
  • Standard (ad-free): $15.50 to $18
  • Premium (4K streaming): $23 to $25

“As we continue to invest in programming and provide greater value to our members, from time to time we will ask our members to pay a little more so that we can reinvest to continue to improve Netflix,” the company said in its latest earnings report. This is the company’s second price boost in recent years. In 2023, Netflix raised its discontinued Basic plan from $10 to $12 and its Premium plan from $20 to $23.
