Iron Ore is a critical, yet seemingly occasional, material for upgrading your character’s equipment and developing your AIC base Knights: Endfield. Before you need it, you may not be sure where to find it, so here’s everything you need to know to secure this resource for your factory.
How to get iron ore in Arknights: Endfield
Iron ore is not as available and accessible as the readily available Originium ore, which can be found in almost every region of Arknights: Endfield. This is because iron is a high-level resource required for production Blue rarity equipment and many other crucial crafts, and their importance is not so obvious until later.
As mentioned, you’ll likely need iron ore long before you come across it, which is certainly a problem. Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem follow the main story until you unlock Originium Science Park region. Here you will find your first iron ore nodes, which you can collect like any other ore.
However, if you plan to collect iron ore in vast quantities, simply hitting the nodes will not remove it. You will need to place Electric mining drill Rig Mk II on Iron mining location. You read that right: a regular electric mining drill will not work for iron ore.

Besides, you’re going to must have an vigorous power grid In Originium Science Park region to power the drill, which means you’ll need a sub-AIC base configured. How to set up a sub-AIC base in the region? The answer is once again yes follow the main story. Finally, towards the end of the Originium Science Park region’s story, you will be asked to establish a facility base and thus a useful power grid.
How to get the MK II Electric Mining Rig in Arknights: Endfield
MK II Electric Mining Rigs can be crafted in any AIC unit (Master or Slave). To access the blueprint, you must first research and unlock it Mining III In AIC Basic Plan menu. Once you do this, the diagram will appear in the file Construction option on any AIC unit.

Iron ore locations
Even after reaching the Originium Science Park, iron ore is still a fairly occasional resource that can be found simply by looking around. To make your task easier, here you will find the nodes in the region.
West of the transportation hub

This is likely the first set of nodes you will come across in the region as you enter it via Route 5. You will need to do some relay work to be able to mine nodes.
Northwest of the Infra station

This node is located directly across from your AIC subbase in the region, separated by a massive valley. Fortunately, Zipline technology (pylons or towers) makes access to this hub quick and effortless for future visits.
Northeast of the cliff trail

This is the third and final node location, but unfortunately it is inaccessible to you due to the Plague wall blocking the path. You’ll need to continue progressing through the main story to be able to get to this one, but once you do, you’ll be able to add even more nodes to your iron ore mining operation.
Once one or two of these nodes are blocked, you’ll have enough iron ore flowing in to do whatever you want with it.
