Zara Dar is an engineer who dropped out of her PhD to become a model and OnlyFans content creator. Her YouTube and Pornhub channels often share the same videos: explanations of math concepts that teach you what a neural network is or where the concept of pi came from, and which happen to be hosted by an attractive woman in a low-cut top. As Dar explained on LinkedIn (via 404 Media), the same video will earn her $340 per million views on YouTube and $1,000 per million views on Pornhub.
Admittedly, her videos get more views on YouTube because I imagine fewer people go to Pornhub to learn what integrals are. But there is a surprising amount of non-pornographic material on Pornhub, including plenty of Minecraft videos. Comedian Ryan Creamer has a whole channel of valuable films that happen to have suggestive titles. (By the way, this link is still NSFW, unless your work gives you a tough time browsing Pornhub while you’re up to date, like me. I hope.)
Dar told 404 Media that she’s not entirely sure why her videos do so well on Pornhub, “but it may be because my SFW videos stand out from the typical NSFW content on the platform. This contrast may make them more intriguing and refreshing for viewers, but that’s just my speculation.”
After posting an explanation of her business model on LinkedIn that briefly went viral, Dar’s account was banned from a site where business colleagues explain how great it is to ignore family in favor of being a workaholic. “I’ve dealt with this professionally,” she said, “but LinkedIn’s rigorous approach to the situation seems counterproductive.”
