We also see the T-1000 Terminator for the first time, showing its hand returning to its liquid metal human form in a scene that rekindles memories of the hit action movie Terminator 2. It closely resembles the T-1000 from Mortal Kombat 1 on Robert Patrick, who played it character in the film, we understand that Patrick also voices the T-1000.

Conan the Barbarian, which will be released on January 21 as part of the standard Early Access DLC period for owners of the Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns expansion and then available a week later, features the likeness of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who famously played Conan in the 1982 cult classic film. but his voice is not there. The official Conan the Barbarian gameplay trailer will debut in tomorrow’s Kombat Kast, giving fans a deeper dive into this mighty warrior. Warner Bros. said the release date and availability of the T-1000 Terminator will be announced at a later date.

The T-1000 Terminator is the latest DLC character added to the bloody fighting game as part of the Khaos Reigns expansion, and follows playable fighters Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and later this month, Conan the Barbarian. Fans have been wondering for some time whether developer NetherRealm is planning a third set of DLC characters amid questions about the sales success of Mortal Kombat 1.

For its part, Warner Bros. Games announced that Mortal Kombat 1 had sold over four million copies, and in November, Warner Bros. CEO Discovery’s David Zaslav said that on the gaming side, the company plans to double production on just four titles, including Mortal Kombat.

In September, NetherRealm CEO Ed Boon said the developer decided to make another game three years ago, but promised to support Mortal Kombat 1 “for a long time.”

Most fans of the studio’s work expect that it will release the third part of the DC fighting game series, although neither NetherRealm nor the owner and publisher Warner Bros. They haven’t confirmed this yet. The first game in the series, Injustice: Gods Among Usreleased in 2013, along with its sequel, Injustice 2which will be released in 2017. NetherRealm released Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019, and for a while it looked like the studio would be switching between Mortal Kombat and Injustice games, but instead it released another Mortal Kombat pliable reboot in 2023, Mortal Kombat 1.

IN interview with IGN in June 2023. Boon was vague about the decision. “There were a lot of factors, some I can talk about, some I probably shouldn’t,” Boon said.

The two reasons Boon was willing to discuss were the unfortunate start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the team’s decision to move to a newer version of the Unreal game engine (Mortal Kombat 11 runs on Unreal Engine 3, while Mortal Kombat 1 runs on Unreal Engine 4).

“But we switched to a new graphics engine, Unreal,” Boon said. “We really wanted to be careful with Covid-19 and everything to keep everyone safe. There were a lot of variables involved and eventually we realized, ‘OK, let’s do another Mortal Kombat game and hopefully get back to Injustice’ sports competition.’ “

To be sure, we wanted to confirm with him directly that the door to the Injustice series has not been closed.

“Not at all,” Boon replied.
