NetEase Games tells Marvel Rivals players that a modern hero will appear every month and a half as additional seasons roll out.

The studio’s inventive director, Guangyun Chen, explained the team’s post-launch plans during an interview Subway. It doesn’t mince its words, promising to release a playable character every half season. This means at least one modern hero every month and a half or every six weeks or so.

“Each season we will introduce fresh seasonal stories, new maps and new heroes. We will actually divide each season into two halves,” Chen said. “The length of one season is three months. And for each half of the season, we will introduce a new hero. Ultimately, we want to continue to improve the experience and, you know, excite everyone in our community.”

It’s a elevated order that will leave fans with one question at the end of each season: who will be next? Season 1 of Marvel Rivals: Eternal Night Falls was already off to a mighty start, featuring both Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the first half, with the Thing and the Human Torch set to launch in the second half in a few weeks. These are Marvel mainstays that have undeniably earned their place as legendary superhero characters, but maintaining that momentum over time will be a challenge.

Marvel Rivals has already launched with a vast roster of playable heroes that includes names like Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, Jeff the Landshark, and Storm, but there are so many other faces to include. Blade is one of the characters rumored to appear for example, in Season 2, and fans are also hoping to see characters like Daredevil, Deadpool, and other X-Men at some point. It’s unclear how NetEase will expand the Marvel Rivals lineup in the future, but with success seen so farthe team shows no signs of slowing down.

The first season of Marvel Rivals has also been introduced balance change list AND general gameplay fixeswith more promised to come in future updates.
