According to reports, all the games will be released on Nintendo Switch 2

Following yesterday’s news about Nintendo’s Switch 2 plan, a number of games have reportedly been developed for the unannounced next-gen console.

Leaker Nate hate, who first published the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 release date via his podcastspeculates that the fresh Mario Kart will launch alongside the console itself in May or June, with 3D Mario arriving for the holidays in 2025. IGN has reached out to Nintendo for comment.

Third-party games allegedly coming to Square Enix’s Switch 2 include Final Fantasy 7 Remake in 2025 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in 2026.

According to Nate the Hate, there are a number of Switch 2 games coming from Ubisoft, including a port of Assassin’s Creed Mirage in the console’s launch window. The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows game, currently available exclusively on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC, will reportedly also be coming to Switch 2, although at a later date outside of the launch window.

Other Ubisoft ports reportedly include games from The Division and Rainbow Six Siege series. Mario + Rabbids games are also reportedly coming to Switch 2, potentially in one package, which wouldn’t be much of a surprise given the link to Nintendo and previous comments from Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot.

Nate the Hate also reported that Konami is preparing a port of Metal Gear Solid Delta for Switch 2, which is scheduled for release later this year. Nate the Hate has hinted that it may launch day and date on Switch 2.

IN previous podcastNate the Hate said that a number of Xbox games will be coming to the Switch 2, including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Windows Central’s Jez Corden then confirmed the newsclaiming that it’s likely that most, if not all, Xbox games will run on the Switch 2 if the console can run them well enough.

We can make some speculations ourselves about what to expect on the Switch 2. It seems likely that the games that Nintendo has announced coming to the Switch this year and beyond will also come to the Switch 2. For example, Metroid Prime 4 it’s a unthreatening bet. Like Pokémon Legends: ZA and Professor Layton and New World Steam. The question is, will these games look and play much better on the Switch 2 compared to the Switch?

There have been a flurry of leaks about the Switch 2 in recent weeks, and a high-profile mockup from accessory maker Genki was unveiled at CES 2025 reportedly piqued the interest of Nintendo’s lawyers.

While Genki’s mockup seemed to add significant weight to the growing pool of previous leaks about what the Switch 2 would be, Nintendo has yet to officially reveal anything about the system, and all of these claims are subject to change or outright debunking. The official announcement is here can be expected in the first quarter of this yearNintendo said.

Other reports have been suggested the alleged Joy-Con sensor could be used to turn the controller into a mouse. Meanwhile, alleged retail listings for Switch 2 MicroSD Express cards suggested that the console supports the newer SD card standard in 256GB and 512GB forms.

Next the appearance of alleged images of Nintendo Switch 2 internalsfresh images allegedly showing off the next-gen console’s Joy-Con appeared online earlier this month. Images showing the left Joy-Con were reportedly first posted on a Chinese social media site before making their way to the Nintendo Switch 2 subreddit and Western social media.

They feature larger SL and SR buttons than on the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con, which is to be expected considering the Nintendo Switch 2 is reportedly a larger console than the original. These fresh Joy-Cons supposedly ditch the rail lock method used on the current Switch in favor of electromagnetic choke controllers.

In September, unverified images — a combination of CAD images and photos of printed circuit boards (PCBs) — purported to have originated from a Chinese website before ending up on Reddit, introduced a device similar to the existing Switch console but with a larger screen and magnetic Joy-Con. The USB-C port is also said to be on the top and bottom of the console.

Accompanying the photos was a purported specs list that listed 12GB of RAM (the original Switch has 4GB) and 256GB of internal storage (the original Switch has 32GB). Apparently there is a fresh “C” button on the right Joy-Con, but no one knows what it is for.

We also have patentfiled in July 2023 but first published last week, describing AI image upscaling technology that would aid keep the size of video game downloads petite enough to fit on a physical game cartridge while offering up to 4K textures.

Here’s what we know for sure: Nintendo has confirmed that the as-yet-unannounced Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with original Switch games and will feature Nintendo Switch Online. As for the release date, The console’s launch is not expected in Nintendo’s current fiscal yearso it won’t appear until April 2025 at the earliest.

We even have that developers explicitly say that they plan to release their upcoming games on the consoleWith others are teasing the release of their games on Switch 2. When Switch 2 finally comes out, Nintendo expects there will be plenty of action availablewhich in turn will hopefully prevent scalping.
