Ubisoft has once again delayed the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, pushing the release date by about a month. The recent release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is March 20, 2025, and the game will appear on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

On behalf of the Assassin’s Creed team, executive producer Marc-Alexis Coté said:

We would like to sincerely thank our amazing fans and dedicated teams for your unwavering support since we announced in September that Assassin’s Creed Shadows would continue to be refined and refined.

We’ve been excited to share our progress in Gameplay Previews since November, and we’ve been really inspired by the overwhelming excitement. Each week brought valuable feedback from our community. While we have already made remarkable progress, we believe we need several additional weeks to implement these comments and deliver an even more challenging and engaging experience on day one.

Therefore, the recent release date is March 20, 2025. We remain committed to delivering high-quality, immersive experiences – supported by ongoing dialogue between our players and development teams.

We know you’re eager to learn more about Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and we’re joyful to announce that you’ll be receiving more updates soon!

Previously scheduled for release in delayed 2024, Ubisoft has postponed AC Shadows to February 14 in the wake of the disappointing launch of Star Wars Outlaws. “While the game is now fully featured,” Ubisoft said of AC Shadows last September, “lessons learned from the launch of Star Wars Outlaws have led us to provide additional time to further refine the title.”

Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes us back to 16th century Japan, the times of Azuchi-Momoyama, and the main characters are a female ninja and a samurai. This man is a historical figure based on Yasuke, a man of African descent who was one of the few immigrants to Japan and who served Oda Nobunaga. A female ninja named Naoe from Iga province is recruited into the local Assassin order to fight against all those evil Templars.

Her story will intertwine with Yasuke’s, allowing you to master complementary playstyles as both characters have contrasting skills – Naoe in stealth, Yasuke in direct combat. It will be a fresh take on the twin heroes we have sometimes seen in the Assassin’s Creed series.

Gaining an extra month for the final rounds of polish means Assassin’s Creed Shadows also avoids a head-to-head clash with Kingdom Come Deliverance II and Avowed, which have scrapped their own delayed 2024 launch plans – Avowed is particularly trying to avoid other gigantic game launches and now he has some luck with it.
